Does Jehovah prefer to be worshipped by force ?
by wasblind inas many of us know, the shunning policy is a useful tool to the wts.. it helps to retain members by force, holding family members hostage.. many members go back, not because they believe in what is being taught.
by the wts, but out of the human need to have the love and affection from.
their loved ones still in.

GENDER ROLES & THE ANNOINTED
by palmtree67 ini was thinking further about this because of the many "women as weaker vessels" topics posted lately and also this thread from randy:.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/198399/1/letter-from-an-anointed-reader-who-dad-after-33-years.
this was about an annointed woman, whose insights were outright discounted by the gb and was told to "wait" for them.. these are my thoughts:.

Tougher Stance on the Disfellowshipped?
by Rydor inone of my best friends with whom i grew up (and pioneered) with has been disfellowshipped for the past 6 years.
his parents are still witnesses and, though they've been grieved over the fact that he's not a jw, they've always treated him well, and he pays them regular visits every month.. well he just informed me today that "the watchtower came out with stricter rules... my parents flat-out told me in person they can barely have any contact with me from now on.
" he's pretty depressed about it.. of course, the position on the disfellowshipped has largely been, "if they're out of the org, they're dead to you, family or not.

Weird Fred Franz pics (other presidents also)
by Joliette ini was reading crisis of conscience and i noticed a really odd pic of fred franz on page 90 (looks like he was sitting down?
) in the picture, and i knew i had seen him somewhere before (watchtower) or yearbook, and i always wondered why the organization took so many pictures of the presidents back then...if they didnt want the emphasis put on men but on the organization??
why was this?

Racial question about the annointed aka 144,000...
by Joliette inas an african american associate of jehovah's witnesses (since the age of 5, actually i remember going to the kingdom hall as young as 3).
i've always wondered why most of the annointed were and are white.
i know there are a lot of white people on here so why is it that there are.
