So your source came up with one Republican and one Democrate who's son is involved in the war. This alone does not make a case that Moore lied. Nor is it impressive.

What evidence must be presented is how many in the House and Senate have children of service age and compare that with the two or three who have sons or daughters the active services.

As to lying, you would have to present evidence that Moore knew his info was in error and presented it anyway. Yet I agree Moore probably deserves your charge as I suspect he has called Bush a liar in at least one case where he could not prove George was deliberately misleading us.

Believe It or Not!

driving home after a long bike ride last sunday, i turned onto my street, just a couple of blocks from my home.

clad only in lycra bike shorts and jersey, i had my window down, my shades on, and a nice endorphin buzz from a great outing.

without warning, a large, dense, golf ball sized pine cone from one of our towering neighborhood evergreens careened through my window like a meteor, and nailed me right on my left testicle.

Believe it or not, I was visiting friends for dinner and afterward they suggested I go visit their grown daughter and son-in-law not far away. As I had just parked a few doors down from their home and got out of the car here comes the son-in-law down the street. I waved but he didn't notice me and he was about to drive on by without even stopping. There was no way I was going to let that happen so I said to myself, 'hey, maybe I can get his attention with this pine cone'. Jst2laws

We need solid advice from former Elders

almost unbelievably after 4 years of staying away from the hall and the jws last week they called and said there were allegations of apostasy against us.

we have been very quiet about our feelings and so were very surprised and angered.

we were told that they were going to discuss the allegation and determine if we would be formally accused of apostasy.

Pete,

There is a certain peace that comes with total seperation from the Watchtower Society. It comes with a period of adjustment to loss of friends and some family but it is worth the pain. Maybe you would be better off not fighting and getting on with your life.

Pete,

I can fill you in on the process and your options as well as the likely hood of success if you appeal. But I will need a little more info. You need to call the elder and ask what evidence was presented to the committee, who the witnesses were and what specifice thing you did are said that constitutes apostasy. He will probably will want another elder on the phone before saying anything to you, and will probably tell you to appeal the decision and the info will come out in the appeal. This you need to refuse because the appeal committee's approach is completely different from a regular judicial committee. You may have to agree to meet with a few of the committee members just to get this info. Then pass it on to me and we can talk more specifically.

Remind them that you were once and elder and therefore you know they MUST stick to WT Society procedure or they will be in big trouble with the society as well as potential legal trouble if they make any announcement based on improper procedure. You will have to be willing to play hard ball with them if you have any chance at all in this matter.

If you do get a real meeting, probably only with an appeal committee, unless they have solid testimony from two witnesses you may prevail with the "doubts" card. Tell them you don't know anything for sure, you just have DOUBTS. Remind them that you should not be treated harshly for doubts. And whatever you said or emailed to another was not to propagate false teachings but only to specify what your doubt was that has caused your week faith.

Do not answer their questions. They will lead you to make statements that will constitute apostasy. Just say you would rather not express your self if you know they are baiting you. Keep going back to the original evidence that lead to the charges and make them prove it was more than doubts. You might even ask them to explain the matter to you so your doubts will go away. Shut up and listen, no rebuttal, and hope to get out with you butt.

I served on appeal committees since the mid 1980's up untill about 1997, near the end about one every two months. Drove me crazy. Your chances are slim but by what you describe so far the boys have already made some mistakes. The appeal committee must consider this.

I QUIT!

i quit....smoking that is, my pack to 1 1/2 pack a day habit...i quit june 4th, not a single cigarette since then...though 5 to 7 pounds...are ya proud of me...huh huh huh....i had a few of ya hoping i was leaving the board....ha!

Yes, if I remember rigth it was the Lakota that actually owned the Black Hills. There is now doubt that all the Souix tribes were terribly wronged. They were evicted, betrayed and murdered, and Custer was notably a key participant in that injustice.

That is why the thread is titled "Sitting Bull and more White Man Bull Sh*t". I hope you understand I was not minimizing his deeds and the injustice of the government policies by pointed out the mishandling of the facts by his superiors. Custer being a victim of misrepresentation and possibly murder is minor compared to the pain he inflicted on those HE victimized. Even the fact that he paid with his life does not negate the pain so many have endured. I hope you are not offended by the thread.
