No need to apologise. I'm an oldie and happy to admit it, even if I am going through a recycled teenage.

about a month ago, i wrote a post about a sister that keeps coming to my apartment giving me watchtowers.
i called her an older sister.
she is in her late 50's.

feels real strange typing this.
i was what you all call born in.
i was happy growing up.
Hello and welcome. Give yourself some time to research so as to accept and then heal. Most of us can identify with your sadness and confusion, coming out of the WTBS is a journey, often painful, but always worth it. I hope you benefit from the support on here.

so, a good friend of mine, a pentecostal christian, invited me to go to a retreat with her church.
we're the same age-19 years.
we were friends before i became a witness and she was always patient and caring with me especially throughout my arrogant spell as a witness.
MsGrowingGirl, you have to think carefully here. Best advice even for those of us intent on maintaining our relationship with God, is to try and take time out away from any religions while we're still vulnerable and healing from the false religion of the WTBS. All religions have their own doctrines which determine what you 'should' believe. For me I prefer to stay out of them, men distort God and I've lost trust and am reluctant to endanger my relationship with my God again.
Having said all that I have some lovely friends who are Pentecostals who don't ever pressure me to join either. As has been said, a retreat is like it says on the tin, a place away of withdrawal from society to pray, worship, etc. it might be difficult to find yourself isolated there amongst people who have new and strong beliefs that you're not a part of. Whatever path you choose next needs to be very carefully analysed and thought out so as to spare you from further hurt or disappointment, that takes time.

hi guys.
richard e. kelly has kindly contributed a great article to jwsurvey.org on the link below.... http://jwsurvey.org/child-abuse-2/bo-juel-jensen-could-he-be-watchtowers-worst-nightmare.
richard tells the story of bo juel jensen, an ex-witness who has been doing marvellous work in raising awareness of watchtower child abuse mishandling in norway.. as with most child abuse victims, bo's story is a disturbing one.
Great article Cedars, have retweeted.

my sister in law has been shunned by the family since she da'd herself at the age of 18 and moved out of the house.
i always insisted that my wife keep in contact with her and made sure she knew she had a soft place to land, with us, should she need it.
even at the risk of it getting us in hot water with the pioneer, elder, bethelite family members there was no way we were going to let her disappear into the wild blue yonder on her own.
Well done to you Exwhyzee for standing by your sis in law through the years.

i'm 19, and i'm still currently a jw.
i guess i'm a born-in, or whatever you guys call it.
i've had some serious issues with the faith at the moment, and sexuality is a huge part.
Magatan, hello and a big welcome. I feel so sad for you that you are having to deal with all of this. According to gay friends of mine "coming out" can be hard enough in an ordinary family, to have to try and do this in a JW family must be hell on earth for you. Is there anyone that you can get 'on side' in the family? Many here have had to fade because of finding out that the 'truth' isn't the truth, and don't want to lose family, but it sounds to me as if that'll be difficult in your situation cos of your dad and brother being elders too, but it's worth a try. It's great that you found us, there's lots of support here and I do help it helps you.

for the record, i am not a native english speaker, infact i recently just started studying english about 18months ago.
so apologies for any error you may encounter in the process of making sense of my logic.. i am from a small village in a destitute and war ravaged african country, 80 percent of people in my town live on less than 50cent in a day and myself included, no roads, no hospital, no public institution, no social welfare support, no national security institutiion, nothing, just tribal factions exchanging agricultural produce and i have always wondered why jehovah would have to put the preaching work ahead of a poverty eradication program at this desperate time of our existence.. .
it was an emotional adventure on finding answers to that question that led me here.
Hello and welcome.

hello, i am new and i feel soooo wrong about being here.
anyway i am an m.s and have been disillusioned ever since the new understanding that came out in october.
i have read many things on this board that i have and also have not thought about.
Hello MS and welcome. It's ok, leaving the WTBS doesn't mean leaving Jah, quite the reverse in fact. I hope you find your way and can benefit from being here. Many of us here are still strong believers.

in the first post in this series i discussed the identity of the watchtower as per revelation 13. the second post dealt with the identity of the harlot and the scarlet beast.
this post will deal with the third element "the image of the beast", lets read revelation 13:15-17:.
the second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.
Don't like olives but love cheese.
