Would Elders You Knew Have Ordered Stonings If They Could Have?
by Cold Steel infor those of you who used to be jws, or who are active, if the society was in charge of the earth, how many people do you think you would have seen stoned during your lifetimes?
i realize some elders can be zealous about their work, but if they'd actually had administrative authority to have kh members stoned to death, how many elders did you know who would have been zealous enough to really order them?.
did you know any elders who would have ordered stonings, even if the condemned people had been willing to repent?.

My Role Here
by Joe Grundy ini am, as i always start my posts by saying, not a current or an ex-jw.. i rarely contirbute to threads where the topic of discussion is about the current feelings of jws trapped in, or their past experiences because i just don't have the personal knowledge to share.
i can empathise, but not from personal experience, if you know what i mean.. many new posters, it seems to me, are exiting jwdom and are nervous because of jw teachings about inter-acting with us non-jws, us 'worldly' people.. so, it seems to me, that if by normal interaction, i can assist in showing that us 'worldly' people are not so bad it might just help someone sometime.. and, as ever, if i can be of practical assistance in real life, happy to do so..

Proof of adultery no longer needed to be spiritually free to remarry
by WuzLovesDubs inso this is what my soon to be ex says to me today...the same person who is courting wooing and flirting with a sister and has been for a very long time even way before i told him i wanted a divorce.
he tells me that they "dont spy on people any more to get proof" that my just telling him i did or him telling the elders that i did is "sufficient" for him to be free.
he also said hes not allowed to talk to said sister any more because she is "spiritually free" but not divorced yet!

1984 has totally rocked my world!
by serenitynow! inso i read 1984, or at least part of it at the urging of my logic professor, years ago back when i was an inactive jw.
it was a good scary read; i was like, wow, life sucks for that dude!
i did not see any correlations to my jw world at that time.

Prelude to a disfellowshipping
by rory-ks ini was 25 years a congregation member; ten years an elder; all told, up to 18 years an appointed man; a decade or so as a full-time minister; assembly speaker, with the pinnacle giving the public discourse at a district convention.. .
i stopped being an active member of the congregation in november 2010, but it had been brewing for several years, with the customary gradual drifting away - all the necessary mental gymnastics as my spiritual views changed and doubts set in; quitting the theocratic ministry school; ceasing to answer; sitting quietly off to the side.
i think the straw that broke the camels back was when family worship inevitably became family worship.

Why enact legislation with penalties for non compliance, then do nothing when an org.refuses to comply ??
by smiddy inthe mind boggles: the australian government / victorian government is held up to ridicule by people all over the world for failing to prosecute the wtb&ts, eg.jehovahs witnesses, for refusing to obtain working with children checks over a period of three years,in spite of the various agencies offering to give advice and assistance over that period of time to obtain one.
they arrogantly refused any such help.
today we learn that the dept.of prosecutions has taken over the case with the intent to dismiss this case because it`s" not in the public interest.
