When did Jesus die Nisan 14/15/20 or other?
by eyeslice inoften as witnesses, we were told of people who started studying the bible (in reality wt literature) and were amazed at what they learned.
you know the sort of thing i mean i have been going to church for years and never knew that.. .
however, in my recent studies, particularly of the book of john, i have felt the same way.

Luke 16: 19-24
by vlad in19but a certain man was rich, and he used to deck himself with purple and linen, enjoying himself from day to day with magnificence.20but a certain beggar named laz arus used to be put at his gate, full of ulcers21and desiring to be filled with the things dropping from the table of the rich man.
yes, too, the dogs would come and lick his ulcers.22now in course of time the beggar died and he was carried off by the angels to the bosom [position] of abraham.. also, the rich man died and was buried.23and in ha des he lifted up his eyes, he existing in torments, and he saw abraham afar off and laz arus in the bosom [position] with him.24so he called and said, father abraham, have mercy on me and send laz arus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because i am in anguish in this blazing fire.. my old account does not seem to be working, so i am not a new member but i did not post loads anyway.

The Holy Spirit
by Leolaia inthis was posted originally in the rodney dangerfield thread......
i don't really know much about the trinity other than what i was told as a jw but it does seem to me that the holy ghost is definitely running a distant third in the popularity contest.
when jws get into arguments with trinitarians, it's almost always about whether jesus is god, isn't it?

Are the Creative days 7000 years long?
by Steve J inwhere does the idea that the creative days of the genesis account were 7,000 years long come from?.
genesis doesn't suggest that they were specific time periods, but shows that one "day" extended into others.
i feel that the clue is in the words; "and there was an evening and there was a morning, a first day.

Gehenna
by Leolaia inas john day discusses in his book on the god moloch, it is well known that in jewish literature and in the nt, gehenna is a term for the fiery portion of the underworld where the resurrected dead are destined to be punished (e.g.
4 ezra 7:36; 2 baruch 59:10, 85:13; mark 9:43, 45, 47), and gehenna itself derives from the aramaic name for the valley of hinnom, gehinnam, the valley to the southeast of jerusalem.
as an eschatological term, gehenna is constantly associated with fires that bring punishment to the wicked.
