  JW.org Lapel Pins for I.D. ?

  today was the first time i've seen a bro wearing a jw.

  org lapel pin, actually much, much larger than an actual lapel pin.

  square shaped, the background was olive green but the letters were white in bold letters.

  Whatever happened to "walking by FAITH, not by sight..."? That was the reason JWs wouldn't wear a cross (or, in their case, a "torture stake", ha) and why they looked down at people in Christendom for having a visible symbol of their faith.

  Good point. I was thinking something similarly when I recall back in years past when I used to wear a cross and later a WWJD bracelet. To me, it was simply a symbol that I used to show the world who I identified as and the kind of life I was trying to lead. I would imagine JW’s that wear these logos do so for similar reasons.

  The Christian in me would just simply say that no one is righteous and therefore we should go ahead and dispel with the notion of attempting to compare our penis sizes ahem righteousness and therefore this question is totally invalid.

  Now, if you want to substitute moral person for righteous then the question becomes valid again but don’t expect an unbiased answer when you ask someone how moral that person thinks of himself or herself. A truly humble individual would refuse to answer or at least qualify it with “I would like to think I am a good moral person…”.

  i am sick of being told this same crap after decades of suffering at the hands of wicked men and women, how many of you have had to fight these irrational expectations we are supposed to grin and smile when people are actively trying to screw with us and elders say .

  good it is that one should wait, even silently, for the salvation of jehovah (lamentations 3:26; titus 2:13).

  my life in the organization has not been entirely bad, there were many good people and plenty of jerks like you all experienced in this adventure we call life.

  Gave my first hour talk sunday before last

  i started going door to door at age 5 and was giving no.

  2 talks by age 7. during the 8 years i was an active adult jw i was never a ms or elder (although i was a regular pioneer once).

  so, i never qualified to give an hour talk.

  i keep reading that they kinda leave chaos and distrust in their wake.

  so i simply wondered if anyone had anything nice to say about them?.

  we went on a weekend trip to visit family back in our hometown and on the way down i brought up the recent video on tv.jw.org concerning education.

  i basically said the same thing about it that i said on this thread.

  to sum up, i said that if the wts is so concerned about witnesses losing their spirituality at the university then they need to put their money where their mouth is.

  There is a contradiction in churches when they teach things like the camel can go through an eye of the needle before a rich man enters the kingdom of god that gives people attending college in seeking a better life pause.  I think most people in the religion try to balance it somehow as the pitiful example in the video provides by mentioning trade schools over universities.  The real threat to religion is the critical thinking skills and exposure to different cultures at the university as opposed to the pursuit of material wealth.

  At least Christianity has its Christian universities to help counter that, at least in their own minds.  Why not the WTS?

  Ha! With WT policy, how could a JW kid studying in university show their face at the local hall? Particularly now with ToMo's rant recorded for posterity, a kid will know they will get nothing but grief from JWs for taking classes.

  Yeah, I am afraid that as good as my wife's intentions are.  If she tries to contact the branch office with her suggestion she will get at best a courteous reply in the negative.  Sadly, the legalism found in the kingdom halls will make them feel guilty for taking college courses even if the young ones try to attend the meetings.  That was what drove me away from the IFB churches during my college years.  Not enough attendance and soul winning.  Fortunately, other more mainstream churches were more forgiving.
