  the jehovah witnesses are a religion, and that's what they should talk about.

  why do they have to talk about so much more than religion.

  after all, they aren't doctors or engineers, chemists, they are bible students.. i never understood why they published the awake magazine.

  honestly: i perceive a lot of jw-thinking in this forum, primarily from those of us who are exjw.. the us/them mentality.

  right/wrong, black/white, everything the wts said and did must be wrong.

  also, active jws that post here are typically characterized as idiots, or just plain ignored.. i've not come this far, just to fall back into the same judgmental attitudes in which i was raised.. don't take me wrong; i certainly believe in calling a spade a spade.

  ex-JWs: Do you now say "Bless You!" when someone sneezes?

  most jws can't say "god bless you" or "bless you" when someone sneezes for fear of blessing someone with the wrong god.. now that you are out, do you have the nerve to say it?.

  I'll Pray for you. What's your feelings when someone says that to you?

  for those of us who left organized religion, how does it make you feel when a xtian says they will pray for you because you don't believe the same as they do?

  personally, in my opinion, that is a very obnoxious statement, especially if i don't ask or want someone to pray for me.

  to me, that's saying that i am wrong and they are right, and they are praying to god that i will see things their way.

  Are Christians religions all cults?

  i was just reading something on a thread that tiggered this question.

  have you even been involved in a converstation with a christian fanatic?

  i have a few times and have been told a few times that i am going to go to hell because i don't believe in the bible and don't except god/jesus (at least their version) into my heart.. i know that having that fear as a basis for beliefs is a sign of cultish behavior.

  Centering Prayer

  it is a christian contemplative practice, i guess it's taught by a father thomas keating.

  in the blurb i read it mentions that phrase "clouds of unknowing" which was first used by an anonymous christian mystic, i always thought that's a good way of putting it.

  anyways i'm interested to know what it involves.

  The Human Potential.

  can life retain it's potential meaning in spite of its tragic aspects?.

  such as the pain ,guilt and death that we all experience.the human potential allows us to yes to life in spite of everything,making the best of any given situation.. "the human potential ,when at its best allows for us to turn suffering into a human achievement and accomplishment;to derive from guilt the opportunity to change oneself for the better;and deriving from life's transitoriness an incentive to take responsible action.

  " viktor e.frankl.. now,for those of you who are former jw's and have suffered pain in all its forms,felt guilt,and feel the transitoriness of life,years lost etc.have you developed your human potential,are you able to make the best of any given situation, are you able to yes to life in spite of everything that has happened to you or what?.

  Does having chapters and verses in the Bible obscure the Bible's message?

  i was just thinking to myself the other day, why were chapters and verses in the bible, but precious few other books?

  most people would say to make it easier to read, easier to locate "scriptures".

  i mean, when you write a letter to a friend, do you break it down into chapters and verses?
