Who shuns you?
by Dawn inafter reading a number of posts it sounds like most of you have been shunned even by your immediate family members (parents, brothers, sisters)after you were df'd.. i am shunned by my sister-in-law - but she's it out of the entire family.
my uncle, brothers, mother, and father (an elder before he passed away) all continued to associate with me - we even go out to dinners together.. so here's my question - is my family the minority?
i thought that only non-family members had to shun you but family was ok as long as they don't discuss spiritual issues.

the stranglehold of cultish thinking?.
arguing about doctrine may trigger an automatic witness mind.

When Did JW's Ever Make You Feel Cared For?
by Englishman inso-called apostates are, imo, actually persons who have been refined in the fires of criticism so that their true personalities shine through.
apostates are the best, most loyal friends in the whole world.
they do not have to worry about whether something is right or wrong, they are free to act upon instinct, upon feeling, upon their innermost emotions.. not for them the wearisome, tiresome, boring old its either right or its wrong mentality that cripples the acolytes of the wtbts!

We must defeat shunning
by joelbear inshunning is really what the watchtower society is all about.. every religion has moral codes, doctrines, taboos, etc.. it is the deliberate psychological manipulation of people through social sanction that makes jehovah's witnesses different than any other religion.. yes, other religious people shun people but only witnesses institutionalize shunning.. it must be defeated.. joel

How to get someone out?
by Hyghlandyr ini am seeking information on stories of those who have assisted relatives or friends out of the organization.
particularly i would like books, or websites, or personal experiences, suggestions on step by step methods, to carefully present ideas to those who are staunchly pro jw, without alienating them further.
i am especially interested in situations in which a df person was able to finally break down the barriers.

Can Witnesses Do That?
by Dutchie inthis week is spring break for school children and so my kids are home this week.
while i was at work yesterday some witnesses paid a visit to my home and tried to talk my 14 year old son into having a bible study.
when my son politely refused, saying that he could not commit to a study without first asking permission of his parents, they told him that they knew many children who had defied their parents to study with the witnesses and come to meetings.

Mary - not a virgin
by Norm inas we have known for some time the bible didnt describe mary as a virgin but simply as a young woman.
that is what the word which for so long was translated virgin means in the original text.

Persecution Fever
by radar indo any of you recall the persecution paranoia, that swept across the congregations in the late 80s?.
the great tribulation was believd imminent, and bro's were getting excited and encouraging everyone to be ready.. the book study was highlighted as a meeting that must be never missed!
because if a sudden ban came upon the kingdom hall meetings, then only those who knew where the current book study was held, would get spiritual food and help.. the next thing was "hide your watchtower literature" in places where the authorities would not find it.. jws, including myself, consequently hid literature in the walls of our homes.
