Sometimes I wonder if the meaning of inspired could be the same as a child being motivated or inspired by an unreachable hero to imitate him? That something being inspired might not necessarily mean endorsed?

So maybe there's something way beyond the scriptures?

Just my mind wandering and wondering.

A rant about my JW ELDER(and elder) dad

sorry, just a rant... so i am speaking with my dad last night and all i want to do is bring up the best week ever ...jehovah's witnesses are still ridiculous bit, but i hold my tongue because what's the point he's old.

then he begins to tell me about some problems he is having with his leg circulation etc.

so he goes to this chiropractor and he tells him to take some vitamins so he decided to call his jw friend who sells shaklee and order through him.

In the area I grew up in, the obsession was with high colonics performed by Colon Therapists that happened to be Witnesses. There always seems to be some fad in quack medicine that's endorsed by members of the cong. And if it's administered by another Witness, then all the better. It must be okay if it's adminstered by a fellow witness. No formal medical training needed, just being a Witness and promoting a wierd medical treatment was enough.

It's sad and what's worse is that it's(following untrained sham medical idiots in the Dubs) dangerous. I'm so glad my parents aren't like that. But a lot of the Dubs are.

our po...who is really full of himself....reckons that he is reading a special letter tonight, he says he isn't allowed to tell fellow elders before the public reading.

just a word of caution....our po...is one who loves all the mystery and secrets, so my inkling is that it will be a crock of crap.

however it may prove to be interesting...i will tell you after meeting tonight.

I find myself just getting "tired" of waiting for the End of the world. U2?

is the end of the world just a fantasy in religious people's mind?

i am really beginning to believe we were all just made to believe in a fairy tale.

i still love jehovah and jesus but my faith is just wasting away behind waiting for a change such as the rapture/armaggeddon/paradise earth.

Every culture has it's Armageddon, end times scenarios. So do most religions. If it(whatever it is) comes, then it comes. It's nothing I have control over. I refuse to live with a cloud of doom over my head as the organization would have you do. It's not healthy. And it's ruling by FEAR. A definite mind control tactic. When someone lives in fear it's very hard to research things rationally. The organization keeps people in fear with telling them they aren't doing enough and that you have to do more more more to get through Armageddon. The organization also uses one's children against them. If you're not a good Witness then your children are going to die. And then you'll be bloodguilty. What a rotten thing to say to loving parents!!!! And don't bother saving for retirement as Armageddon will be here and you won't need it. And now there are elderly ones with NOTHING. That's LOVING. Salvation is a gift from God. We can't earn it. We've all fallen short of the glory of God so how could we possibly earn it?????? Thankfully God is the judge and not a body of elders!!!!

JWS and Sports

does anyone know why jws are not supposed to participate in sports and what is their view towards watching sports on the tv, ie a game of football..does not playing sport extend to not watching and what are the biblical reasons given?.

"Bad associations spoil useful habits" was the one that was thrown at me over and over and over again when I wanted to be in sports. Oh and you're not putting the kingdom first if you miss a meeting to go to a sports event. The organization also throws "Bodily training is good for little......" at everyone. I don't remember where those scriptures are.

As far as watching sports, last I knew it should be in moderation after the weeks lessons are studied and many hours of field service are done.

And if someone is exceptional at sports and lands a scholarship or offer from a team then it's considered to be "striving after earthly riches" and not "building spiritual riches". And don't even think of going to a university to play!!!! College is BAD BAD BAD...just like sports!!!

Got My Nose Pierced

i've always wanted my nose pierced cause i think its so cute and sexy.

my boyfriend thinks so too.

Quandry is right. Just remember that most employers do judge you by your appearance. A nose ring(if it's a little stud in the side of your nose) is easily removed for interviews, work, etc.

I have tattoos. There is no such thing as a painless tattoo. Depending on where you get them, they can be more painful or less painful. Depends on the concentration of nerves. Typically "tats" on the feet or hands are more painful where "tats" on your hip aren't as bad. It's different for everyone. Tattoos are a personal decision of course but I'll go back to agreeing with Quandry again. Keep them out of sight in your chosen profession. Most careers demand a professional appearance. Mine are out of sight at work. Outside of work they can be seen. I have one on each ankle. My job requires long pants so it's not an issue.

If you decide on getting a "tat", shop around and research the studio you go to. Depending on the state you're in check for licenses, etc. Make sure they're using new needles every time. I would not go to a studio that autoclaves it's needles and reuses them. AND if you get as far as going to get one...don't drink alcohol before hand...make sure you've had lots of water and eat a couple of hours before(I made the mistake of getting my last one without having ate all day.....I was totally embarrassed when I passed out from low sugar....giggle).
