Eight years ago when my Mom died, ( she was a witness for 25 years) hardly anyone blinked an eye to offer any condolences.
seeing this really made me get the hell away from the lunatic asylum.
i remember a brother making the above statement in regards to an elderly sister who had passed.
he stated we don't mourn or even visit grave sites because we have a hope that jah will resurrect the dead.
it seemed really creepy at the time, hell, even jesus wept when lazarus died.

apparently going to the kingdom hall and getting out in the door to door ministry is the best way to get over the loss of a loved one.
who'dve thunk it?.

My Mother died 8 years ago and all I heard was to get out and get involved with the org again, that would help. Really ?
People that I'd known couldn't even call on the phone, or stop off and say something.
One witness at the hall told my wife, " when he comes back to the meetings, we'll talk to him about his Mom."
that time period REALLY showed me the true colors of the jw population.
I never set foot in their halls again.
i voted this morning for the first time.
at 32yo i wondered in a church of england parish hall with no idea what i was doing.
everyone else knew how to do it.
Good for you ! Personally, I get flashes now and then even after being out for eight years.
i think it's like an alcoholic who is attending AA, the urge to return to drinking is always lurking underneath the surface. But by making the effort to stay away, and surrounding yourself with like minded, supportive people helps tremendously.
i remember when i was in as a teenager, some time around 2006, samuel herd of the governing body came to dedicate our newly built hall.
i remember bumping into him accidentally and a brother pulled me aside and half jokingly and half seriously telling me that i should be more careful around jehovah's anointed ones.
it was quite comical to say the least.
Back in 1980 a member of the governing body, ( His last name was Glass) dedicated the new Crystal lake, Illinois hall.
people acted like a movie star was in our midst, and several of the elders seemed to be star struck around him.
He was a very good speaker, but the intensity of admiration that was shown to him actually made me feel uneasy.
And being an older man himself, he tried to come across like an average guy, but the elders made sure that EVERYBODY knew how awesome he was.
well unfortunately i was unable to get out of today gracefully so here i am in sacramento california at what i fear may be the most boring convention to date.. heck there aren't even any entertaining apostates to watch .
anyway,i am just posting as a quiet f.u.
to the org..
Thank you for the inside updates 😀
it's like the movie Fantastic Voyage, your telling us what is going on .
too much crap to keep track of, but a few low lights of day one of the regional convention stuck out.
in no particular time sequence here is some of what i managed to hold down.. tight pants yapped on in the opening part about a three part theme to conventions.
part 1 was in 2016, part 2 is this year, and part 3 is in the works for 2018. i guess the big a isn't coming for a couple more years, at least.. then it was really stressed that all good dubs must always be prepared to "witness" by carrying jay double you, dot org calling cards, and of course wear your id card for the convention at all times, and all places.. next was the strong statement that the purpose of the carts/trolleys is not to place literature, it is to direct people of the public to "our" web site!
Of course, ,,,,, I Forgot about that

So why have 3-4 people standing around a cart full of literature for hours, why not just get a sign placed next to the congested highways that lead into cities ?
just wanted to say hello and thank you for all of your comments.
when i finally figured out this was not the truth it was nice to know i wasn't the only one - it was a surprise to learn how many there are.
february was my last month of service after 43 active years.
while reading the morning news, i came upon a story about this church and the name grabbed my attention :.

some aspects are just too close to the mark with the witnesses.

mine was to some random guy in uniform i saw on the street about two years ago.
even as a jw i knew that we had a lot of freedoms here in the us that were hard earned.
it felt really good to finally be able to say in person to someone when i i did..
Every chance I get !
when I left the jw religion I got involved with an organization, Honor Flight, that takes WW2 veterans out to Washington DC for one day to visit their memorial.
without a doubt that was the most emotional, and in a certain way spiritual chapter of my life. I was able to go on 3 trips and they affected me greatly.
much more than knocking on doors for a religion. 😉
this is a video of one trip I was on returning back to Midway airport in Chicago.
