LURKING JW: Thinking of leaving? Learn from my experience.
by SnakesInTheTower in"mental wondering in the wilderness"... uh oh.... it's a long post from snakes.... lol.
yep... i think that is the best way to describe where i am at in life right now.
if you have read my past posts (mostly in the private section) you know some of my history as a life-long (now former) witness.. i have been away from the jw religion, for all intents and purposes, since dec. 06, though it was not until sept 07 that i stopped attending meetings.

Dear Snakes
I'm sorry you've had such a hard time. I'm sort of in the same situation. I've been away from meetings for about a year and a few months and I to lost who I thought were friends. And it really does get lonely. I am blessed with my kids who are also out and we support each other. I hope things get better for you in the future.

On growing up, having a spine and being dishonest
by lola28 ini read the last two posts on my previous thread last night and i thought about posting, but to be honest i found them hurtful and i was angry enough that my post would have been very harsh, so i took a step back and figured i could let it go until today when i wouldnt feel the need to really say what im thinking about the previous posts.. purplesofa, the bible study was actually a walk in the park, we went out to lunch and just talked about the economy, obama and saving money, we went over maybe five paragraphs in the new book and that was that, all i did was recite the answers straight from the book.
as to why i went to the meeting, well what can i say?
im like super interested in becoming a pioneer and maybe going to bethel!.

Well, I think what you did was very loving and I would hope to have you as my friend if I needed help.
So don't worry about negative remarks. Just do what makes you feel good and happy!!!

When I was an active JW I would write letters to the families of those that had died but it was done with the best intentions in mind. I was only trying to bring comfort to the family. Even though this might have angered some people, I recieved many thank you notes and one long letter showing appreication for my concern for a stranger. So sometimes it does help to know that a stranger does have sympathy for other people. I'm sorry the experience left you feeling so upset.

This is so funny!!!
by hihopes2008 ingive them the "mark 17" faith test!
mark 16:17-18.
"and these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.

Even though I don't go to meetings anymore and have no faith in it, I think what you did was VERY childish and probably did'nt make them think negatively at all about what they are doing.

I clean houses for a living so I have many things I don't like but in my own home I guess I hate cleaning my husbands bathroom and shower more than anything else. In fact recently I told him if he want's it clean then go for it. I have enough on my plate!!

How to stop Vista hard drive thrashing
by Elsewhere inever notice vista thrashing the hard drive like there's no tomorrow for no apparent reason?
ever notice how vista will do this forever and without end?
every try to get work done but vista is too busy thrashing the hard drive and sucking up precious resources causing the system to slow down so much that you can't get anything done?.

I have a computer with Windows XP and one with Vista and I really hate Vista. It is sometimes SOOOOO slow. But my husband took the XP over so he can view his porn in private so guess I'm stuck for now with vista.

*Major rant* my Sunday at the Hall aka HELL, also need ladies opinion on creepy elder
by lola28 inok guys i thought i would update you on my sunday and how the study went.
i had to drive a few of the older sisters to the hall (one has a bum leg the other an injured hip and the other one has a hard time seeing), so i drove them to the hall and stayed for the meeting, here are some of my thoughts, first of the public talk.. i dont know how i made it thru the 30 minute talk without screaming bulls*it every other five seconds, the talk was about being no part of the world, and man it made me want to vomit.
first off, children are still discouraged from extra curricular activities, i dont know how they expect children to grow up and be able to function socially if they raise them to isolate themselves from their peers, dont they realize that they are raising social retards?

This person sounds very creepy to me. Be very firm and say"don't ever touch me again"!!! We sometimes tend to think that because someone goes to the KH that their intenetions are honorable but that is'nt always the case. There have been occasions when I was going that I had some very uncomfortable situations arise.

I'm so sorry. Pets are part of the family and it's very hard to see something happen to them.

Singing at JW funerals
by keyser soze inmy sister's husband passed away last week, and the funeral was last saturday.
after the typical commercial for the wts, the speaker invited those in the audience to join in singing song #15(life without end at last).
they passed out lyrics to the song to those without songbooks.

I think Witness funerals are very embarrassing. For one thing , the talk is so not for non-JW's and if there are family members there who are'nt JW's then it's very tiring to set through a talk and listen to what you don't believe to begin with.As for singing, in our area, the last few I've attended there was just music and no singing.I've played the piano at many funerals and am so glad I no longer have to do that. I honestly don't know how I did that.
But I'm really sorry for your loss.
