Sirona's God and the Perspectivist Approach
by hamilcarr inour culturally biassed and contextual image of god is that of a male being, omnipotent, eternal, and existing outside the created world.
sirona introduced me to a new type of god (maybe one without caps, i'm not sure): a divinity who is human-like, framed within the human perspective, subject to suffering, growing and dying, like anything else in the visible universe.. isn't it time to face the fact that our western image of god is nothing more than our perspective on god with all its negative and positive aspects included?
why do we need to prove the existence of our god if it's only the perspective we feel comfortable with?

Governing Body as Jehovah God revealed in latest WT study
by hamilcarr inthe watchtower study of this week (15/2) is entitled 'jesus christ - the greatest missionary'.
compare the following phrases on the modern-day identity of jehovah and jesus:.
as one of jehovah's witnesses, however, you likely think of the missionaries sent out by the governing body to preach the food news in various lands around the earth.. concerning his heavenly father, though, jesus christ said: "i am a representative from him, and that one sent me forth.

What Does An Ultimately Cruel Universe Reveal About God?
by hamilcarr inan interesting unanswered question raised by inkling in my thread on creation and god, which i'd like to devote a separate thread to: i would love to hear from some of the resident fundamentalists on this one.... why did got create a achingly beautiful, but ultimately cruel and twisted universe?.

What Does Creation Reveal About God?
by hamilcarr inthe latest wt issue has on its front page the question 'what does creation reveal about god'?
the articles contain 'evidence' that it's possible to learn more about god's invisible qualities by observing his visible creation, thereby refuting the agnostic argument 'seeing is believing'.
by the way, that's what biologists have been doing for the last couple of centuries but it hasn't brought them closer to theism.

On Royal Priesthood, Faithful and Discreet Slave, Nietzsche and Babylon
by hamilcarr ina juxtaposition:.
man is not capable of knowing by himself what is good and evil, therefore god taught him his will.
moral: the priest does not lie; the question of true and untrue does not exist in the matters about which priests speak; these matters do not allow one to lie at all.

Dynamic Energy
by hamilcarr inthe hebrew word 'onim' (gen. pl.
of root form 'own') is rendered as 'dynamic energy' in the nwt.
most other translations use words like 'strength', 'might' and 'force', and these are very close to the latin rendering 'fortitudinis'.

Let's ask a question about Jesus
by hamilcarr inwhy are some of the pivotal events of jesus' life as recorded in the gospels shamelessly borrowed from pagan predecessors?
the following list is not supposed to be exhaustive: immaculate conception, son of god, death and resurrection, the last supper celebrated with bread and wine, an incarnate god who dies on a cross to redeem all sins, .... h. .

Real One and Immorality
by hamilcarr inafter going through real one's last posts and his favorite 'i'm only quoting scriptures' argument (regarding homosexuality), i wonder whether you agree on this one:.
it's impossible to be a moral person when you consider biblical rules as inspired.

Is Philanthropy the Answer?
by hamilcarr inof course not, and you can find the scriptural reasons in the awake issue of may 2008. .
what does your religion teach about philanthropy?
to most non-believers it is the only answer to human suffering which makes a huge difference as far as morality is concerned.... .
