They are questions which have their common source in the quest for meaning which has always compelled the human heart. In fact, the answer given to these questions decides the direction which people seek to give to their lives.
Science is one of the perspectives attempting to tackle these vital questions. The recent history of the RC church attests to the close link between science and religion --- even as far as meaning is considered. I think self-consciousness or a reflexive attitude is one of the advantages of the scientific perspective. The promise of full knowledge has constantly been deferred.
