BIG talk with teenage son today
by Aussie Oz inyesterday i got to ask my kids what they thought of the convention they just had.
response was 'really good'.
daughter liked the drama but could not say why or what the lesson was... so i figure she liked it because it was more interesting than the regular talks.

@Dinah: Looks like you'll get a chance to see DLR fronting VH in the near future. (sorry for the font wierdness)
"I never liked those heavily produced screamer bands."
Uh...I guess you're talking about something after the first album...that first is as stripped down an album you'll find in the 70's (except perhaps for the Buckingham/Nicks release). After that...gotta admit I didn't follow them, I was too busy just listening to that first brilliant release, raw, energetic, front-and-center...the hits came through, and Eddie's work flows nicely, and they can be catchy.
As an Orbison fan, yes, I picked up Diver Down - brilliant cover, though flawed for truncating the bridge, shame on them...oh, well...!

For a few years, ending in 2002. The right meds was hard to figure out, since it's by trial and error.
Most useful if you're in therapy - otherwise it's just masking symptoms of a problem. The meds help therapy to make better headway.
Then again, if you're just trying to make through the meetings, it's more a lifestyle choice, eh?
When ready, ease off of them - reduce the dosage slowly over several months to avoid withdrawal.
Also try to get a therapist/psychiatrist who have experience dealing with cults. Very good advice.

Like anything, it's not what it is but how you use it (or abuse it).
Is sugar good or bad? Is oxycontin good or bad?

Beck's self-aggrandizing zealotry is disconcerting.

Meeting topics that cover sex
by Libelle inoccassionally the mr will say that "some visitors are shocked because we will talk about sex, even with children in attendance.
" what exactly are they talking about in these meetings.
things like "don't masturbate" or things like if you position yourself like this, and your woman like this while having sex, then you're fornicating?.

Let's settle this once and for all....
by OnTheWayOut ini am not mocking a thread with the same words in the title.
i liked that thread question and am imitating it.. anyway, some people on jwn have decided that words have absolute definitions and others recognize common usage.. some have decided that everyone must have "beliefs" that go beyond "i don't know.
" others feel that it is okay to not know.. some feel that beliefs fall into generalities such as "atheists believe in evolution and the big bang" or "believers in the [god of the] bible believe in the literal history of the bible.

I think you already know the answers. The only one I feel compelled to respond to is:
Can we actually expect to "settle this once and for all..." by posting authoritative comments?
Nothing on this board will settle anything. It's an ongoing discussion, like the rest of life.
