M'y mother indoctrinated me from birth. 1951. From that time to the 90s things preceeded fairly repetitively. 5 meetings/week, personal study, door-to-door, participate in nothing else outside of the society, no dating. You would build your own presentations door to door or for the school. Now I hear they have I-pads door to door, in the meetings, The headquarters are sold to Trumpos son in law (of all things), the long time and undereducated Bethelites are being layed off and turned out, and the Gov Body have luxurious new quarters on a lake that they can manually control the depth of. For some reason they all seem to wear Rolex watches. Last year they left an invite to the memorial that quoted "Truly I tell you today you will be with me in paradise" no commas. What scriptures did they change in their new bible? Seems like it is very different than when I grew up. They seem to have their own trinity now, the gov body, Jesus and Jehovah. Any thoughts?

If the WT is a "money making machine"...who gets the money?
by NikL ini've seen claims over the years that wt is in the real estate, book publishing business and is a for profit enterprise at it's core.. can those of you that believe this to be the case tell me who benefits from all this wealth?.
the governing body lives in relatively humble conditions no?.
i've been curious about this for a while.

I had a couple of young brothers at my door and one used the word "channel" in referring to how the GB gets inspired. I was pretty surprised at that. Is this something new? I've been "out" for a long time and I'm very out of the loop.

What are the worst pictures in My Book of Bible Stories?
by cedars ina few comments from muddy waters and mummatron on another thread peaked my curiosity and led me to revisit some of the illustrations in the my book of bible stories.
i don't appear to have my old copy from when i was a child (thankfully), so i checked out the images over on watchtower.org where the entire book can be read online.
the images below are taken from what is displayed on that website, although it wouldn't surprise me if there are equally awful images that haven't been used.. so which of the images below are the most grotesque and inappropriate for children?

The latest change in Watchtower vocabulary to catch out the unwary
by slimboyfat ini got a copy of the recent kingdom ministry the other day and it reminded me of something in the book the orwellian world of jehovha's witnesses by heather and garry botting.
it's on the front page of the december issue of the km, they have a heading called "not 'alternative' witnessing" where they explain that the term is no longer considered appropriate and "public" witnessing should be used instead.. in the orwellian world of jehovah's witnesses the bottings discuss the importance of the particular language jws use to set themselves apart from other people.
they redefine common words to give them a particular slant, such as "brother", "sister", "literature" and so on.

Telephone hook up

My mother had this arrangement. What it actually accomplished was isolating her from the Cong. As she was 89 she didn't drive at night. She also had macular degeneration. She would study all week for the meetings. This arrangement released the cong from the responsibility of seeing her, calling her, etc. When she died she felt very forsaken by them. She only served the borg for 59 years. I hate them.

Yeah, that's been the thought for a long time. There is the "little flock" annointed and then the "great crowd". The "great crowd holds on to the skirt of the Jew. Whatever. Wasted a lot of time.

Went to a HS Play and the Preacher Character had the NWT. I was mesmerized by it the whole time.
