  Is it all just a 'Cosmic Crapshoot'?

  first my faith in the wts went away.. later my faith in religion [for purposes other than fellowship] went away.

  to date, my faith in the existence of the 'great cause' remains, but is tarnishing in some respects.

  i have no clear picture of what we really are, where we are really going, and why we exist.

  Here's my thoughts on life:

  I think you should be the best person you know how to be. Love your family, love AND STICK to your mate like their is no tomorrow, tell them every day, because you never know when its going to be your last. Cherish your friends, thank them for being your friends, and always provide a listening ear in a time of need. Give of yourself and your means to those can't or need help. Stay away from man made food products, cause they'll kill ya, and eat a well balanced diet everyday. Enjoy life, enjoy all that it has to offer, and do all things in moderation. Lastly, never interfere with another's happiness.

  Everything else, is small stuff...

  I hated "the dog and pony show", that would go on during CO visits. The people that weren't there since the Memorial or last assembly would show up, be early, AND comment!!! Then the elders were practically on their knees every time the CO was around. Every retarted, dry humored joke they would tell was thought to be the funniest thing ever (apparently they never heard of Richard Pryor). People would always line up in droves to work with the CO in service or take him to lunch, then they'd act like the big cheese.

  My dad and I used to crack up at this behavior when I was a youngster. This all changed after dad became an elder, and was buying the COs suits, meals, gadgets, etc. I was repulsed by the behavior, realizing my own, rebellious fireball old man had become a company man. He still was a fireballer to the local BOE, but everytime the CO came around, he was just like a lap dog.

  Bachelor Weekend!

  looks like i'll be having a bachelor weekend as my beck is going out of town on a 'consolation prize' vacation with her mom.. see, her mom tried inviting herself along on out trip up north to stay in the dome, and we put the kibosh on that!.

  but they had to offer her something, so i was beck and her sister rosie taking their mom to wisconsin dells this weekend.. i got my truck, my scooter is fixed, i'm at my lowest weight since starting my diet and feel great (except for a bit of a cold), the upside is i can do anything i want!.

  the downside: no beck.. i think friday night i'll go to the best asian resteraunt in the known universe in no.

  Well, Friday night I'll be playing with my blues band at one of my favorite central Iowa bars. Saturday morning I'll be up early smoking ribs, and then Saturday afternoon I'll be attending a jam session in honor of a musician friend of mine who just passed away. Saturday night I'll be drinking, and Sunday, I'll be at with my girlfriend for a family dinner and then watching football. Sounds like a PERFECT weekend to me.

  Sure it is... and JFK is still kept alive by machines in Dallas, Mickey Mouse holds a BBQ at my place every Saturday, and armed pigs standing on two legs with the ability to fly guard my home...

  I will say I believe it was written by men inspired, but by WHAT they were inspired about I have no idea, drugs perhaps? Too much wine? Simply a way to control uneducated and undereducated people for thousands of years? Me thinks its the last one personally.

  being a pioneer/servant for years, i thought i was very responsible.

  when dating a sister whom i later married, i read every publication on courtship the society had.

  i then spoke to an elder whom i thought was "resonable" and we agreed as the publications say: "a couple can meet together in a public place, when courting, without a chaperon.

  Hell when I was a young man, I had girls flocking around me at assemblies and conventions. Later when I was dating, my (then) girlfriend was giving me head in the front seat on the way to convention while grandma was in the back seat "chaperoning". Our chaperones, never knew what we were doing, it was ridiculous what we got away with right in front of people.

  I was a chaperone for people later, and I was tough as hell, wouldn't let them do squat, especially if I didn't like them. The couples I liked I would show up with and then leave them alone. One couple I gave condoms to, because I didn't want them having a kid. My rule was always don't ask, don't tell.

  What's For Supper/Dinner?

  Last night was Monday Night Football, and dinner with a good buddy of mine. Went to the store and got T-bone steaks, and Texas Toast. Then I came home seasoned up my T-bones with salt, and Montreal Steak Seasoning and a little olive oil. Seared them in a red hot skillet, then backed off the temp and cooked them right in the skillet. Put Baked Potatoes in the oven with vegetable oil and salt on their shells, and then we ate, like men at a steakhouse. The menu:

  16 oz T-bone steak seasoned and served with A1

  Baked Potato with butter and sour cream (no margarine here folks, that stuff will kill ya)

  2 piece of Texas Toast

  Miller High life bottles

  Last night was one of the best meals I've had in a VERY long time. My buddy was also thrilled with his. We were planning on going to a steakhouse last night, but instead just hung out at my place watched the game and ate LOTS cheaper.

  Why Do You Think Jehovah's Witnesses Are At A Standstill?

  i think they've lost all of their zeal.

  years ago, even if people were bothered by the door knocking, it was still said that people admired their zeal and conviction.

  not one jw that i know truly gets excited by the "truth".

  I just hope my family, can get out, soon, after all the first generation of my family (grandparents) are starting to die off, or be in severe health, or just slowing WAY down. I'm thinking after my grandma goes, then I'm hoping my dad steps down as an elder, and slowly fades. He still isn't that old, only mid 40's, I know he's in because of my grandma and my stepmom's family. However in recent years everyone has been much more relaxed about things, unfortunately that doesn't carry over to talking with DF'd people, so I'm still out in the cold.

  But I think as long as their are poor people, down on their luck, alcoholics, drug addicts, perverts, etc., out there "finding religion", then the witnesses will still be in business because of the happy picture they paint. The old timers are passing away, and things are more liberal compared to the tight belt of the 80's when I was growing up. I remember people were appalled by the Simpsons, now many dubs watch the show and discuss it at the hall. Some were letting their kids even go out for sports, when I was DF. But the biggest thing I noticed was just the very "casual" attitude towards meeting attendance, and the great disdain for service that MANY people had.

  BUT, the other thing that I noticed was that whenever you brought up a point of contention OR suggest maybe that you just quit going all together, THEN they get all up on their high horse about things, become all "super Dub" on you. It was quite tiring, I basically didn't believe from the time I was 16 or so, and used to try to use logic to speak to my friends, and I have to say none of them are in the troof either. Basically, they all started using their logic too, OR just realized doing "forbidden stuff" was just way more fun.

  i couldn't think of any of the gay guys that changeling mentioned in that thread, but there were some seriously tough gals in one of my old halls.

  pioneered, never hung out with the other young single types.

  they displayed no interest in men, and even the desparate young males would have nothing to do with them.

  I knew one that could bench press like a man, played tackle football with the guys (and hurt them), she was a tough, rugged farm girl. Very beautiful young woman though, also a very good singer, and in general just very pleasant to be around. Not interested in men at all, she was a pioneer, and last I knew she was still not married by her early 30's. She was a good friend and always was better friends with the guys than the girls, though she never pursued anyone.
