I have a number of phobias and my only last resort is to blatenty perform whatever that phobia might be and usually when drunk which has not always been a good thing but it has lessened my overbearingly low view of myself whilst increasing it in others. So go figure!

Keeping in touch/making a clean break

I think it maybe harder for ex witnesses who retain the essence of unconditional love when in mainstream society where many so not. There may seem no safe haven and you may find your soul closer to those who have never been JWs in that regard. I concur with your experience - even respecting family both non and ex JW! Sometimes it is more a case that life has changed you all that much you no longer see anything in a similar way or even want to. And some become far much more judgmental as a result of their feelings. Compassion is rare. Sad.

single JW's and sex
by Hipraptor ini am if it is the norm, but in my teenage years i must admit, i ahd no problem in going beyond kissing with quite a few jw girls, some even pioneers and talking to some fellow male jw teenagers at the time, many other where for sure going beyond kissing, makes you wonder how many jw's who get married are actually virgins, on a side note i also landed up in front of a committe one time for well bonking and hey i am sure they only do these so that they can here all the nitty gritty of illicit sex for soem reason or another, by the way i pulled the wool over their eyes and still remaind a bit of alad, lol.

Nah, I just keep being told by women that I live in a male dominated society and so this is my best attempt to prove them right, which seems to be failing miserably and so proves me right in an indirect sort of way. Satire does sometimes contain a grain of truth. Some even consider we are wolverine and the pack run around all wishing they were either the alpha female or male! A good point though about the one controlling the one in control - even if I do say so myself!

God cannot break his own laws!

there was recently a co at our hall, he was talking about religious stuff as they usually do.
but he said that the old saying: "with god, all things are possible.

If you re-read my previous post on this thread you will see the shape of my heart. It is attempting to maintain a love for a God of love and those humans who have lived in some way in that image, after having experienced much pain at having fully committed my personal loyalties and love to family and organized faiths in which I came to the full realization that it was far from a reciprocal arrangement. In essence, if I really am made in the image of a God of love, my last drop of energy will endeavor to be expended with that in mind absent of all outside influences which have deliberated to undermine and destroy that very spirit which lives within me! In other words - it is between ME n IM period! And I would advise anyone else to do the same whether they conclude God exists or not!

I have a hunch that JW life is a microcosm of the western world at large. The girls will try to be the perfect example to God except when they have a male God alone for a while, in which case they will kneel and do obeisance to him. Sadly for all the males who do not appear godlike, you must be a worker bee or else get thrown before the elders and shunned if you even make a move. Remember, many women have a view of themselves which is on a par with sitting at the right hand of a godlike male and all others must be in subjection to them and be content with the crumbs under their table. So all single un-godlike males should be conditioned to completely forego the idea that you were born with a penis and get used to being happy just being alive. That way females may accept you as a respectable male worth including in their social circle and pass this idea on to all the godlike males whom they empower with their affections and whatever else they may wish. Its like a hierarchical colony type mularky where the ones in control are the ones controlling the ones in control!

Reading one religious book may contradict that assertion. The Bible! Look at the earlier kinds of behaviors that seem to have pleased God and ones which condoned abandoning His commandments respecting peoples who knew nothing of Hebrew law. Consider the same kinds of things in modern day followers of this book. Much has changed! Some would consider it as proof that God changes His mind. Others that God breaks His own laws. Still others that God does not change His truth or His mind, just like the laws of science, and that maybe the whole collection of books which are the Bible do not belong together! My feeling has always been that Jesus nature is the nature of God! More so than any God of the OT. And my feeling also is that JWs over emphasize the nature of the OT God in instilling fear into their people when in fact their doctrines attempt to follow many of Jesus rulings which were born out of a love for righteousness and not a fear of rules. In effect, my experience was of attempting to live a reality in which my mind was diametrically opposed to my spirit. And so I now use my spirit to instruct myself as to its own direction due to its pain at having followed that of family and religious groups. It is the kindest I can be to myself - and to others!

It is a very incisive point! If the WTBTS were appointed by Jehovah/Jesus in 1918/1919 to deliver the message of Almighty God to everyone on Earth then surely the information would be absolute truth from 1919-2007. So all information between those dates should be freely available to people following Gods advice to help them get the whole picture. After all, they spend enough hours studying! They would see how much information has completely changed and that itself would prove the claim that it is directly inspired from God wrong. God would make no mistake or mislead!

The Bible - God's Word or Man's? - What Convinces You?
by sweet pea inhaving believed the whole bible, hook, line and sinker all these years i get the impression many of you have come to the conclusion that we should take it with a pinch of salt and not hold to it so dogmatically.
and some possibly believe in it just as much as you did when you were a witness.
to save me some time please, lovely people, as i am very lazy - could you share with me why you do or don't believe in it - what evidence there is either way and if there are any particular books that you found helpful in coming to your conclusions?

There is some yummy info here and I will return when I am hungry enough and have time enough for a large meal of logic. When I read books I am usually ultra critical before I accept it as fact. Even when phrased ambiguously I will be disappointed with it. I wonder to myself why I have spent my whole life refusing to question that The Bible is true or ambiguous even when it makes no sense whatsoever. It is because I was told what to do as an infant. It is because I was told as an infant to feel worried in my heart that God thinks I am a failure if I do not agree. I am asking myself on what basis I overlook pages of contradiction and why God would expect it of me. This is why!

This is the kind of unmodified behavior displayed by newly converted witnesses paying close attention to the detail of Gods unique advice to them. This is the conflict they live. Adults doing this do not want to have to police their kids in this way but feel pressured to do so in order for all the family to get through the gates of paradise. Maybe JW kids who've been brought up form birth wouldn't be so hard core with their own kids needing to be so fastidious but then again Gods slave (WTBTS) tells them all this baloney. It's part of being a JW as we all have tasted and in one way or another to our detriment. Unless anyone feels its been a great experience?
