1st month of fading

i'm nearly at the end of my first month of becoming inactive.

only my daughter knows.

i've had a cold half of the month so no questions or pressure has been put on me yet.

I agree with Wasanelderonce. In my opinion the best way to exit the JW's is to just either fade quietly or stop cold turkey without any bells and whistles. If you're going to stop attending meetings anyway- what would be the reason to transfer any " publisher record cards " ? All that does is put you on the radar of the elders in your new congregation and they'll come knocking on your door - bugging you.

I understand the wanting to maintain friendships thing- however- once you stop attending meetings - you are going to find out who your true and real friends are anyway. As you exit JW organization you need to surround yourself with supportive friends who will have your back- not conditional friends who will stomp on you at the drop of a hat, or the drop of your meeting attendance. Sounds like your daughter is supportive of you, and that's a great start.

We are here as well in support of you, so if you ever need to communicate via E-mail or telephone, my wife and I offer our friendship as well. Hang in there, I know it's tough, many of us have dealt with this, it's all part of escaping the control of the WT Society regarding every aspect of your life. Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

JW's on my front sidewalk

so last weekend, the jw's ring the bell and my wife answers.

we live in a heavily spanish neighborhood but don't really speak spanish.

i thought my wife was quite clear that she is a "sister" to them, but maybe the one in charge of the group didn't get the message.

OTWO- Hey you did the best you could. Tried reasoning with them at every angle possible. You even gave them a chance to pull their heads out of their rear end- but they stubbornly just stayed inside their mind controlled comfort zone. It's like talking to a brick wall after awhile- but although they wouldn't admit it to you openly- they won't forget what you told them and who knows- if they get alone on a computer while making sure nobody is watching- they may indeed google what you told them to check out due to curiosity. I mean really, common sense should tell us that snakes never talk ( except for the one in the white house ) but I digress. And common sense tells us that if there was an " Adam & Eve " they wouldn't have just spoken with a snake like it's a normal everyday occurrence. Unless of course " Adam & Eve " were off their rockers mentally. Which may have in fact been the case. Perhaps they were mentally off.

As well as all the other crazy " stories " written in the Bible that don't make any common sense at all. I mean- Jonah getting spit out of a whales stomach and surviving to tell the tale. Come on, he would have suffocated in minutes inside that whale.

All of these Bible " stories " were just printed up by men to control other humans minds. It's all BS

Strange

a couple of times at the meetings this year we've been told that in the future we might get some strange directions from the society that might not make any sense to us.

then they've said will we show our loyalty to jehovah by still obeying?

seems a rather unusual thing to say.

It's an exceedingly scary thing to say because if the WT leaders told JW's to jump off of a cliff to show their loyalty to " Jehovah " - some of them would do it ! That's the danger of WT leaders absolute control over these people. Remember Jim Jones & David Koresh. It's not that far fetched that WT leaders if backed into a corner with the possibility of losing their billions of $$$ might try something similar. Nothing they do would surprise me at this point in time

Indeed. I see no difference between how the Trump regime works and the WT Society leadership. Both dictatorships. Oh boy , I better hide behind a rock- I see the arrows flying at me now ! lol

Visited My Grandfather

my grandfather is a longtime jw with advanced parkinson's.

on the advice of a good friend mine who is inactive but not "out" i went to visit him monday and we talked for awhile.

his health isn't well, but he was happy to see me.

It's really sad how snarky and rude JW family can be to us. I've experienced that treatment as well. Don't let it stop you from visiting your grandfather- especially since he enjoys your visits ! THAT is what's important here- that HE wants to see you, not the other part of the family. He's at the stage of life where HIS wishes should be honored , not cult infested relatives who don't have an ounce of empathy. You are doing great visiting your grandpa ! Keep up the great humanity and caring ! Keep visiting him ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

i attended a concert on sunday, a featured piece having been commissioned by a composer who lives in the city but retreats to an island in the puget sound (usa) to write his music.

As some others stated- my music and songwriting, and playing guitar or banjo helps me get away into another world. When I sit out on my deck overlooking into the forested canyon below sipping iced tea or a beer- yeah, that's the life I enjoy. Just staying home chillin'

Encounter with a long time elder. (Jehovah's happy people)

so i'm at work and go to my vehicle parked outside the empty property i'm working at and an elderly man comes out of next door and we recognise each other from when we were elders in the same circuit.

he is early 80's in age, a jw since the 1960's and so the next generation in age up from me.. he's an outwardly jolly sort and asks how i am etc.

(knows i'm not an elder but thinks i'm pimi) and asks if i want a cup of tea so i go in and sit in his kitchen for my lunchbreak and have a chat.. i have a little fish around and ask about how jw's in his hall are.

FREDDO- Thanks for sharing this experience. Very sad for this man. Reminds me of how my older parents were before they died. Especially my elder dad. I feel my mom had broken out of the WT mindset, but my dad held on to the end. Very sad as all these older JW's were promised they'd NEVER die ! Which was and remains an outright lie. I feel sorry for them that they were so trapped inside the WT inside their heads through mind control- that they never felt they had any other options not even exiting the Witnesses.

For many of them - the shock of having the rug pulled out from under them after 50 or 60 years - would have been enough to kill them from heartbreak or heart attacks or strokes quite possibly. Many people at that age aren't able to make these changes and face up to the fact that they just wasted their entire life on a fantasy - or a pipe dream

LISA ROSE- Thanks for the opening thread. Because of observing this from a man's standpoint in whom his mother raised him up right in respecting equal rights of women I find it disgusting how this poor woman was treated by these elders and the man who raped her. When a woman says no, she means no. These elders bringing down the hammer of blame on her by disfellowshipping her was disgusting. And how many hundreds if not thousands of times have JW judicial committees made those kind of unjust decisions in the past ?

That was part of what caused me to exit this disgusting organization back in 2003. I observed many times elders always acting like they were appointed by " God " himself - even when they gave out idiotic counsel and insanely stupid judgments ! As in this woman's case. I experienced very unjust treatment as well from JW elders.

To treat rape the same way as two consenting adults having sex is nothing but abuse of the victim involved. It's like they've had an open sore or scab torn open again by insensitive men who don't have an ounce of sensitivity within them.

Ladies- not all men on this planet are like that. There are many of us who get totally outraged at this abusive conduct towards women just like you do. And we are those men who will stand up right along side you in women's marches for equal rights and treatment.

Whether it's abuse towards women or minor children being abused- I feel we all have a responsibility to call it what it is- crimes against humanity and abuse of power. It's how I see this. Whether it happens by government officials, or within religions being winked at by elders in JW's or pastors of churches - it needs to be vigorously exposed and prevented and stopped
