BLOWNAWAY- Good thread. My wife and I are watching every episode of Leah's Season 2 shows right now. It's exactly like the Jehovah's Witnesses with the shunning and cruelty towards those who exit the cult. It is incredible that in a so-called " free " society like the United States that cults like the Jehovah's Witnesses and Scientology can even exist. The sooner these cults get eliminated - the better

Leah Remini and Scientology show
by blownaway ini have been watching leah remini's show about scientology.
as she interviews people i see that i was right many years ago when i said this is a lot like the jws.
they do not go after people quite the same way but they sure are very similar in how they run their org.

Were you or someone you know sexually molested by a Jehovah's Witness ?
by flipper indue to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.
what about the thousands that don't get caught?

Saw that this thread had been bumped up awhile back ago. Lots of experiences here of folks who have been molested with the Jehovah's Witnesses and WT organization. Feel free to post any experiences you know of and/or how it was handled / or not by the elders within the congregation. And a big word of sincere empathy to any of you who have suffered these crimes of child abuse. WT needs to be exposed for their allowing of dangerous predators to exist within their organization. Take care, feel free to share. Sincerely, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

So today this happened...
by Phoebe inyou all pretty much know my story so i won't repeat it but.... to say i'm being hounded by my local congregation is an understatement.
today the cobe finally found us in.
well, i refused to answer the door but my husband did.

PHOEBE- I'm so sorry this elder is harassing you . This COBE probably thinks that he's a legend in his own mind because well- he's the COBE don't you know ? He's the boss of the elders so he feels empowered ( as wrong as that is ) to try to control your life.
When I left cold turkey in 2003 the main P.O. in my congregation did the same thing to me- harassed me with several phone calls and kept telling me that the elders needed to meet with me. I told them " I don't need to meet with you I'm doing fine. " The phone calls kept coming. Eventually I just had to hang the phone up on the dickhead P.O. as it got to the point of harassment. After awhile they got the message after a few months and stopped bothering me.
Listen my friend, these control freaks don't understand NICE. They feel they are the masters of YOU so they do NOT honor personal boundaries. You do NOT owe them ANYTHING. No explanations , no discussion, nothing. Just tell them that you are following your conscience and it's between you and " God " or " Jehovah " . And that you'd appreciate them not bothering you anymore.
If STILL these elders keep harassing you - you can threaten them by saying that you'll get a restraining order from the courts to keep them off of your property. If they are not going to honor your personal boundaries- they deserve no respect back. It's how I look at it. I had to threaten them with a lawsuit back in 2007 when after 4 years of not attending they tried to disrupt my life . They finally backed off and the WT Society told them to leave me alone. I hope your case doesn't get to that point- but you get my drift. Don't let them push you around, enjoy your life. It will be much more stress free when these elder freaks are in your rear view mirror. Do NOT enable them. Shut them down or off. Good luck, we are with you

Make Your Excellent Point to a JW, But- Remember, it's a Mind Control Cult.
by OnTheWayOut inso i am reading from many that they have an excellent thought-stopper for jw's.
(remember reasoning from the scriptures used "thought-stoppers?
)"if you just show them [this scripture or use this logic or expose this problem with the organization], you will shut them down.".

OTWO- Good points you bring out my friend. Just being there for these JW's in a supportive, emotional kind of way as Sparrowdown did is an excellent way of giving support for sure to JW's. No need to get into a verbal pissing match with them about doctrines- it's support these folks need. I try to do that with my still-in JW family just a phone call to let them know I care. Perhaps it will sink in someday

Physically In, Mentally Out - A huge welcome to you my friend. I was a born in JW myself - exited about 14 years ago - just stopped attending due to injustices happening within the organization and elders unjust treatment of others - as well towards myself. I came from a JW family whereby they were grooming me to be the next young elder appointed. Had an older brother who is a long time elder and father who was an elder since early 1950's who set the bar too high for me to jump over. I decided against " progressing " , " advancing " - whatever the powers to be want to call it - when I saw hypocrisy while serving as a ministerial servant for years in my 20's. But didn't stop attending for good until age 44 like your situation due to family concerns or reaction.
I think we each reach our breaking point in our own time indeed, and it seems you've reached yours as well. I respect that you want to be extremely cautious about how you accomplish this especially having your wife and extended family still in the organization. If I didn't know any better a secret part of me hopes that you're my older JW elder brother. ( Just joking, but halfway serious. ) Anyway I won't go down that road.
Welcome to freedom of mind and expression here on this board. I've been here over 10 years now and everybody has their story in how this organization the WT Society has either assisted in the breakup of their family due to the shunning process or caused them untold grief in many ways, some have lost in death relatives, i.e. parents, children, or spouses due to the no-blood transfusion policies, some rank & file JW's have been disfellowshipped due to standing up for children being molested within congregations by reporting it to police, other victims of child abuse have committed suicide due to not receiving " justice " in what they once thought was " Jehovah's loving organization " . The extent of injustices that are reeking of the smell of criminality within this organization are very comparable to what Leah Remini and Mike Rinder are exposing in the weekly show on A&E television regarding abuses in Scientology. If you get a chance I highly recommend that you watch that show and the comparisons will stagger you with what we've seen in the Jehovah's Witness organization.
Since many of us have exited the JW organization we have become " activists " of sorts. Some of us in a quiet sort of way chatting up JW's at the cart stands in a non-combative way in order to get them thinking about realities that the mind control indoctrination of WT won't let them ponder on due to " information control " tactics employed on them from WT leaders. Some of us leave news releases from the media in a clandestine way at grocery store information boards concerning WT child abuse offenses happening as most JW's sitting in a kingdom hall are not aware of the thousands of child abuse lawsuits being brought worldwide against the WT Society currently. So some of us are involved in exposing that. But mostly the best revenge is living a calm, peaceful life full of happiness after exiting the Witnesses. Which is what I've tried to do- successfully I might add ! Love playing guitar and writing songs now !
By being undercover as you are as an elder you have a fantastic opportunity within the position you are in to assist the stopping of unjust treatment of people within your own scope and geographical area in your congregation and neighboring congregations. Of course while remaining on the down low so you don't blow your cover. It's totally up to you how to process all of this and how to proceed in your future of course. I understand the need for privacy, confidentiality, and extreme caution. So I want to welcome you deeply to your freedom of mind and I offer my friendship and support to you as you seek clarity and reality within your inner life and outer life. I wish you all the best and keep researching and feeding your open mind . Critical thinking ability is not as bad as the WT Society has made it out to be. It can actually save our life ! LOL . Take care friend, sincerely, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

"Please pray for me."
by compound complex ingreetings, friends:.
today, i saw an old friend in town, and, after we got caught up and finally said our goodbyes, she asked me to pray for her.
family problems were eating her up.. how have you responded if and when you were asked this?
-
flipper
CC- I tell people that I will send out positive thoughts and hopes to them that their situation gets better- but I never offer to " pray " for them - as I'm agnostic and don't believe in " prayer " . I offer to be there for them if they'd like to talk or need a friend- but I do not believe in the " prayer " thing. I hope your friends family problems get better or their situation gets solved- family problems can eat a person up indeed. I'm glad you can be there for this person as a hearing, sympathetic friend . Take care, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Updates on the workload of Bethelites
by usualusername1 inhave the bethelites started cooking and doing their own washing yet?
how are they coping?.

Wow. Very interesting you tube. Good gawd almighty. I keep thinking that I've seen everything there is to see under the sun with the WT Society's unjust mistreatment of it's members - and then this poor ex-Bethelite gets no notice and kicked out of his room with WT reps packing his belongings up - then gets billed for fruit he ate. WTF ? Yep, " God's " loving organization at work indeed. The comparison between Scientology and Jehovah's Witnesses gets greater every day I swear. Both criminal organizations. Sick

Will Watchtower target the inactive?
by ToesUp inif watchtower has no reason to df ones.
they have just become inactive.
do you all think wt will begin a witch hunt (df'ing) for these inactive ones?
-
flipper
Yeah, I think Sail Away nailed the reasons for elders not coming after inactive people. The GB knows that the shunning indoctrination is so heavily put into JW's minds that rank & file JW's WILL shun inactive ones for the most part. I've been officially called " inactive " or haven't attended meetings since 2003- 14 years - and my wife and I have not had any JW call at our house since 2012. It's been over 5 years now. Of course rumor got out that I'd present WT child abuse news printouts to JW's calling at my door - so they didn't like that.
Any JW's that know me have basically tried to shun me, even active JW's in my extended family don't reach out to me- even though I still try to show caring to them. Yep, I'm an " evil " , " wicked " , " bad " apostate who shows more love to JW relatives than they are shown from their own JW church members. Go figure
