2 elders just came to my door. I smiled and told them no.
by schnell innot playing their game, as i've learned here.
they came to my door to find me with a full beard and a nightmare before christmas hoody, playing a video game where the characters "do not act according to bible principles", and i happily answered the door.
i simply smiled and told them no when they asked if i have a minute.

SCHNELL- Very good job. Keep them at bay. Question for you : Was the pedophile that called on you working in service alone ? Or did he have another JW partner with him at your door ? Just curious as these pedophiles allegedly aren't supposed to work in field service by themselves calling on doors -

Depression, Anger and Anxiety

SORRY- You have a great boyfriend who is very understanding . Count yourself lucky. My wife was never a JW as well and these last 10 years we 've been together she has shown a tremendous amount of support to me in the 13 years I've been out of the Witnesses. We are here as a support to you as well, hang in there, you'll make it fine- just be patient with yourself and give it time. It takes time to heal

Need input: elders showed up at our door today
by de-opresso-liber inso as i announced last week, my wife and i started our fade and i sent in a letter to our body that i was stepping down and cited the arc as the reason and insisted that we not be bothered.
my wife told a few relatives in person that we weren't going to attend meetings any longer (immediate shunning occurred, the new videos must be effective) and that what we found with the arc shocked us etc etc.
i have an inside track on how this is all going down by an awake elder on the body, co told them to handle the matter quickly.

I would be careful giving out information to the elder you say that is " helping " you- he may be a double agent- if you get my drift. Many of these elders play " good cop, bad cop" and are really just " plants " put there from the C.O. to cozy up to you to get more information. Be smart, be wary. From one who has been there. We are here as a support to you, hang in there

"Are Jehovah’s Witnesses free to make informed decisions about blood transfusions?" - Canadian article
by OrphanCrow inthis is an excellent article written by 3 faculty members in the cumming school of medicine, university of calgary - juliet guichon, ian mitchell and christopher doig.. http://healthydebate.ca/opinions/blood-transfusions-jehovahs-witnesses#comment-2866324.
it is encouraging to know that the voices that have been raised against the blood ban are being heard.
the work that so many people have done is now bearing fruit.. in 20th century canada, jehovah’s witnesses were persecuted for their proselytizing and wartime pacifism.

WT Society needs to continue to be exposed regarding this death dealing blood transfusion policy. Too many people have died, too many people have suffered. WT Society and it's leaders need to be brought up on criminal charges of murder. Good luck on getting that to happen- but it needs to happen. Thanks for posting this ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

RANT: Isn't Cognitive Dissonance Amazing?
by Sorry inthis is piggybacking off my previous post (about my 'personal study').
while i haven't been a long time member, i'm sure if you have my posts you'll know that i'm disenchanted with the wt and am just grunting and bearing until i have a stable enough support system to break away.
however, lately i'm just getting extremely angry at nearly everything that's going on.

We see cognizant dissonance in the JW organization and we saw it in the recent election of Trump for president. The world is chalk full of people who are confused , ill informed, ignorant and or stupid- or in denial

Election Post-Mortem
by Simon ini'm sure many people, republicans included, are shocked at the results of the 2016 presidential election.
really, wtf!.
the polls were wrong and although it's tempting to blame voter suppression and fbi interference, that would just avoid looking at the real issues for the loss.

Really ? I feel that anybody upholding Trump with his negative baggage as the potential best choice we had in America to be president is an absolute dumb-ass. And I feel Hillary was a close second as well with her negative baggage.
Look- here's the deal. Now that Trump is president-elect - it sets a dangerous precedent. Any minor white child in America can look at his " example " and see that if he gropes females and treats them in a disrespectful way , even sexually assaults them, he can run for president and get elected. If a minor white child has racial prejudice towards those with another skin color- guess what ? It may enable that minor child to be president of the United States some day !
THAT is what electing Trump will do to minor white children under the age of 18. This idiotic country I live in that's voted and enabled a sexual predator and racist into the White House is wittingly or unwittingly enabling millions of white U.S. minor children to accept this kind of behavior as " good " because gee golly- a person could run for president and WIN with these kinds of attitudes ! Millions of U.S. citizens who are dumb as rocks don't realize what kind of dangerous Pandora's box they've opened. I truly fear for this country.
I understand the anger of many young people demonstrating in U.S. cities right now. I'm tempted to join them. They are a hell of a lot more ethical than the guy who is supposed to represent us in the White House. I don't agree with the violence- but I understand the anger that produces the violence. I don't think we've seen the last of it either. Get your crash helmets on folks- I think we're in for a wild ride if this guy lasts out his 4 years as president

Thanksgiving??
by HereIgo inwith thanksgiving around the corner, i thought it would be interesting to hear how you, your family or other jw's you knew handled/celebrated thanksgiving.
it seems to me that most jw's view it as harmless and unofficially celebrate it the day before or the day after the actual holiday.
growing up, my mother would host a dinner the day after thanksgiving and used the excuse " well the traditional food for the dinner is discounted at this time, might as well have a dinner".

Interesting thread, thanks for posting. Even though my dad was a die hard elder in the JW cult- I remember when I was a little boy our family would go over to my JW mom's non witness parents house for Thanksgiving- usually the day after and have what my parents called a " family meal " - but my grandparents who weren't Witnesses saw it as " Thanksgiving " .
I'm glad that my JW mom influenced my JW elder dad to have that meal with my non-JW grandparents because my grandparents were really great people. They deserved to have family with them at Thanksgiving. At least I was able to kind of have one of the family holidays as a kid.
I knew a lot of JW's that did the same thing having Thanksgiving the day after. The WT Society is so full of crap they just want to prevent families from being close. I feel it's the main reason they forbid all the holidays. They try to replace your real family with people they call " brothers and sisters " . A good number of whom are assholes anyway. Peace out, mr. Flipper

Notalone: Do I live in a country where so many are also under some weird mind control, or do their personal problems or ideals outweigh all else,or are people so distanced from others that they just don't care about their well-being ?
Pretty much. There are so many middle and lower class Republicans - talking to them reminds me of talking to witnesses. They have been promised a piece of the pie and they want it now.
It strikes me as totally cultlike the way their leader can do no wrong (and when he does it's because it's "smart" to get ahead by cheating. It's still cheating even if it's just this side of the law. Avoiding your fair share of taxes, not paying your employees and contractors, manipulating your creditors.
The racism and misogyny is really mind boggling. Boys will be boys. Those doggone blacks shouldn't complain - they are a lot better off than they used to be. No joke - I hear this crap.
Notalone, you may want to read up on the history of Fox news. My relatives have been soaking up that stuff for years. They believe that our problems in this country are caused by all the "welfare queens". That if they obediently accommodate the rich the money will "trickle down" to them (instead of flood over to offshore banks.)
It has been getting harder to make a living since the early 80s and people do become more selfish out of desperation. Survival instinct. Some cling to what was this country's mantra, that anyone can get ahead with hard work.
And most religions promote god's will being kind of like "manifest destiny". That those in power were put there by god. Works well for obedience to authority.
This election has got me more long winded than usual.

Terminally weird election night. All I can say is I'm glad marijuana became legal out here in California. Because a whole lot of folks are gonna have to smoke a lot of herb to deal with the stress of four years of Trump as president.
In regards to Berengaria's comment, " Trump said it all when he said, " I love the poorly educated " . That is what happened . Period. "
I agree. Listening to the election results last night on AM radio it quoted some statistics that occurred in the Northern Midwest states - basically 7 out of 10 men who were High School educated only - voted for Trump , and 6 out of 10 women who were High School educated only - voted for Trump.
Which leads us to wonder that if college or university graduates voted for Trump - it seems their college or university degree didn't make them much smarter. At least in character assessment.
Of course Putin wants Trump in office. Trump's less experienced in foreign policy than Clinton was - Putin can manipulate Trump like putty in his hands. Putin knew he wouldn't have that chance with Clinton at the helm. So now we have the unknown and people many times fear the unknown. Especially when someone's elected president who has zero background in politics or foreign policy.
I didn't vote Clinton and I didn't vote Trump. I voted Sanders once again . And I agree that the Democratic party screwed itself as many Democratic voters screwed their own party in June and spring elections by choosing Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders. If Sanders had run against Trump - Trump would have lost, I'm very sure of that. But the stupidity of thinking that Hillary Clinton's past shady activities wouldn't come back to haunt her was short sighted within the Democratic party.
I feel race also had a good measure to do with this vote turning out this way as well. American rural whites voted for Trump as a backlash for having 8 years of Obama in the White House as the first African American president . I mean ask yourself - Why do you think KKK leader David Duke is so excited that Trump won ?
I could go on and on about possible voter tampering, hacking of computers from across the pond, etc. to affect outcomes - but that would just start more fights . No sense in that. I just hope president-elect Trump does what he says he's going to do and tries to unite the country. It won't come easy, if it comes at all
