To use a biblical reference, that would be 'like a dog returning to his vomit'.

Musical Dishonesty - What next?
by hillary_step inone of the saddest and imho dishonest introductions into the popular music world in recent times is the processor introduced by antares called 'auto-tune'.. this combination of hardware and software processes the music, and especially the vocals of musicians, to automatically correct the tuning for example, of voices which cannot hold a note or sing in tune and does so in virtually real-time.
it is used by a growing number of vocalists who are untrained and cannot sing in tune and allows them to parade on stage as if they were note perfect.. numerous amateur and professional performers alike have decided that autotune is one way that removes the need for talent or hard work and have no issue with dishonestly representing themselves as long as the cash flows.
it is set to become standard equipment on tour.. i cannot help but feel that we have lost something big along the way.. hs.

Allow me to interject that Josh Groban did an awesome remake of America. It's just him playing a piano and singing. Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52k-OCt2Egg

I can't do anything about...
by Blueblades ini have come to this point in my life, there are things that i can't do anything about.. for example: i can't do anything about whether or not there is an afterlife.
i can't to do anything about all the books i read on the subjects: the denial of death, life after life, man's search for meaning, the problem of pain, the history of god, the question of god, atheism, the case against god, the case for christ, the case against christianity, searching for eternity, the myth of certainty, the blind watchmaker, the theory of everything, the holographic universe.. and many many more books that i have read on the pros and cons of many subjects, the list is too big to list here.
some of the ones i did list focus on life and death issues.

I completely agree with your thoughts. A few months ago I posted something similar. When we DAd in Sept. of 2006, I was really confused about what to believe. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that I don't need to believe anything. I'm not athiest, christian, or any other title right now. I decided that whether "God" exists, whether creation vs. evolution occurred, whether there's a resurrection or heaven or hell or nothing when we die, I can't KNOW for a fact any of it. Since I can't KNOW it, I won't beat myself up about the possibility that I might believe something that is right or wrong. I plan to just live day to day, and now that I don't have to "wait on Jehovah" to make my life better, I can make choices and plan for the future with a more positive outlook. Good luck to you!

Did You Take Your "Ministry" Seriously?
by minimus insince all jehovah's witnesses are "ministers" and are to act like "watchmen" so as to not be bloodguilty before jehovah god, would you say that you, personally were a fine zealous preacher?
did you make sure that you accurately kept your house-to-house records up to date?
did you make sure you were back in a timely fashion once you placed literature?

I HATED field service!!! I mean HATED it. I did it for several years, always feeling guilty about not doing more. I never lied on my field service slip; I was afraid Jehovah would strike me down with lightning or something if I lied on my time. I dreaded it immensely. I couldn't wait until the car driver would say "Anyone ready for a break?" But in our congregation, we didn't take a lot of breaks unless it was really cold outside. We did service by the book: we'd get a territory card, go park in the area, split off into pairs, and take every blasted door until it was time to go back to the hall. The hours dragged by like days.
Oh man, I HATED field service. I think I need a drink now.

I totally sympathize with the frustration you're facing. I would encourage you to consider trying other medicines. Paxil is OK, but it has specific uses that may not be addressing your issues. Paxil is a little more of an anti-anxiety med, not a full-blown antidepressant. An antidepressant won't magically erase your troubles, but at least they can help you deal with your emotions.
As for being warped by the borg, it's impossible to just forget about it and pretend you were never a JW. But the beauty of your decision to leave is that YOU chose to make decisions on your own, to live the way YOU want to live, etc. You left the borg and all of it's controlling ways; don't let them continue to ruin your life by being resentful about them. Take back your right to have a positive outlook on life.
If you let your job control your life, it will. I know that there may not be a lot of choices as far as employment, but you have to stand up for yourself. By the way, it's illegal for an employer to force you to work longer than 6 hours without a 1/2 hour break. Don't allow them to get away with illegal employment practices. That's a start. Hang in there!

Do you remember this saying...?
by Flowerpetal inregarding worldly associations:.
"the worst jw in the org.
is better than the best person in the world..".

Actually, I remember hearing the counsel that just because someone is a JW doesn't automatically make them a "good association". Of course worldly people were still far worse than even a "weak" JW. But I remember feeling paranoid when I heard this, because we were already stripped of our "worldly" associations; now we were being told to be careful even with JWs. I think they would have liked it if none of us had any real friends at all. (This actually became the case for Little Drummer Boy and I.)
