Abuse of elder position and platform
by KAYTEE inthe craziest statement (not lies not incorrect application of scripture) just total abuse of elder position and misuse of platform.
an elder when on the platform(or as some might say the stage after all the majority are actors made a statement to the congregation because his wife was a bit sickly asked the bro/sisters to arrange a rota to make his dinners.my thinking was if he can't feed himself how can he feed the flock.visiting brothers could not beleive what they heard they thought he was joking.. i can asure you this elder wasn't noted for his humour.. kt.

Help me build a strategy to help get a Watchtower slave free...
by AK - Jeff ina very nice fellow at work - who happens to be direct line supervisor to me - is a jw.
unknown to me, since we have few personal conversations, although i sensed he was 'religious'.
in speaking with another christian there one day about my 'cult experience', she mentioned that she thought this person was a witness, and it seems now that is the case.. i think, from what others have told me, that he might be relatively new to the jdubs, but am not sure of this.

My JW roommate and the false religion tract
by oppgirl63 inmy roommate who is disabled was in the hospital for a couple of days last week (nothing too serious).
one of the 'sisters' from the hall brought her a few of the tracts to hand out while she was in the hospital (like to nurses and whoever).
she hasn't been to the meetings for a while because she hasn't been feeling well so this was the first time she had seen them.

Do you truly WANT the Watchtower to collapse? If so why?
by nicolaou inthere are the abuses of course, the diabloical 'two witness' rule applied to allegations of molestation, the reckless 'blood ban' in all it's tortuous complexities (which by watchtowers own admission has resulted in many fatalaties) and the cruel punishment of shunning which has caused so much suffering and pain to many of us here.. is it for these reasons that you want to see the watchtower fall or is it simply that you want to see them humiliated and broken for what they've done to you?
most of us aren't bitter or selfish enough to want personal revenge against the watchtower but i'd be lying if i said i didn't sometimes think like that.. the reason for my original question is that i sometimes feel a bit hypocritical.
i try to accord respect to jw's and individuals of all faiths, (yes, even when i go off on one of my atheistic diatriabes) but whereas i allow myself to be hostile to the watchtower i shrink from being so forthright against other 'christian' faiths whose corrosive nature may not be so easily apparent but is there nonetheless.. i guess my question is; why do we want the watchtower to fall but do not wish all religion to fall?.

My little heathens
by merfi ini da'd in march after seeing the filth under the facade... the last meeting i was at with my kids was a co visit in may when i couldn't stomach the drivel and we walked out early... since then, the kids (9, 10 and 13) have spent the summer, now every other weekend with their dad who is a jw about 2.5 hours away.
in the meantime, we've celebrated all the birthdays (two july kids and me in august, brother, nephew and cousins...) where the kids have signed the cards and helped pick out presents.
they've been to about 2-3 b'day parties each for classmates since march.

The Tribal Nature of Jehovah's Witnesses
by unclebruce init seems to me a common misconception amongst ex- jehovahs witnesses is that there will one day be an issue arises so big that it will pull the rug from under the watchtower bible and tract society bringing the whole edifice crumbling down.
revelations come and go, apostates jump from one hope to another.
expose after expose fail to cause more than a ripple on the tranquil jw pond.

Ask a Question you didn't dare ask an elder because of fear of being DF'd?
by JH inonce a person is baptized, you can't ask the questions you may have asked prior to your baptism.. but probably after your baptism, there were things you'd have like to tell or ask the elders, but this could have meant that you had doubts.. what would you have said to an elder or asked him if it wasn't for the fear of getting reproved or df'd?.

There is no such thing as Agnosticism. Agnostics do not exist!
by nicolaou inmany here seem to believe that the position of agnosticism is somehow more reasonable than theism or atheism.
nonsense!
it is a misconception to believe that belief or non-belief in the existence of god/s are the two extremes which glare at each other over the fence of agnosticism.
