Was I too harsh?

hello, first let me apologixe for both my spelling and my grammer in advance, both are not my strong points.. i'll keep this short.

since i've been a child my mother has studied on and off with jw's ( i'm now 34) so i've been around it most of my life, i studied on and off myself for around 10 years.

thank's to this site and jwfacts i'll never study or step foot inside a kingdom hall again.

i don't know if anybody else has mentioned this, but i'm currently at a dc in sweden, and this morning, during the symposium on different kinds of service, it was mentioned that 40% of baptisms are the result of informal witnessing.

if you add the number of baptisms of children of jw parents to this, how many are left that are baptized as a result of the door-to-door work?

doesn't sound very effective at all....

As mentioned most are kids raised in the org. being pressured at 12-13-14 to take the dip. If that figure is true you do not see it in the western or industrialized country but might be coming from poor country such as Africa. Still believe it's a made up figures.

Why does god kill children?

i was thinking about all the accounts in the bible that indicate god kills children as a punishment or teaching experience.

1. kills all of egypts firstborn sons, who were innocent kids who did nothing to him or his people, who had no control over the decisions pharoah made.

how many times have you read that account or thought about it without realizing the devastating pain dealt to all those parents, and remembered those were innocent kids?.

Forgot where the scripture is at in the OT but God told the Jews once they got to a city to destroy everything but keep the virgins for a month. If they liked them they had a choice to keep them, if they didn't they could send them back. Of course where would they go to since the city was destroyed and most likely family members. Definitely a wise and loving God!! Or could it be a book written by men for their own pleasure a benefit?????

just ron has received a couple of phone calls in the last few days from the rbc brother wanting him to come roof a kingdom hall.

now, just ron hasn't been to a meeting since december 2011, and certainly hasn't got a current volunteer form on file.

so i ask, are they desperate or just stupid?.

he was df for adultery, back in the day when they would announce your sin openly from the platform to everyone.

he just kept on coming and partaking until he was reinstated.

We had a 70 year old that claimed to be anointed but would never come to meetings due to "sickness" but when we occasionally visited him for shepherding he seemed to be in better shape than most of us. Just enjoyed staying home and watch TV.

a customer on my route with whom i have had some lively debates was his number 1 complaint is that "the witnesses have so many rules".

last month i agreed with on this issue.

he asked why the change, i told him that i have been doing some soul searching.

Very lame excuse to stay in the religion. Isn't that a bit hypocritical to stay in and go to the process of worshiping " God" when you do not believe in the watchtower. You can instill morals,generosity, giving oneself in helping others and on and on without using the bible. I am 59 and left the watchtower after 32 years in it and i have found many, many friends now that have no connection to religion or God yet i can trust them with my life. Don't allow the brainwashing to continue on your kids.

Update on my Dad after week long elders school.....

just spoke to my mum and she said dad is exhausted after the elders school although he did enjoy it.. so he gets a call to attend an elders meeting in his cong.. .

he has told them he's not attending as he has other plans.

he is taking my mum out for the day instead..

They will always tell you they enjoyed it and it was good and refreshing. I attended many two day school and they were nothing but same old story of repetitious stuff. More preaching/shepherding/put family first and mainly worship the GB. Glad he's spending some time with your mother.

DEEP WRINKLES!!!!!!!

any advice about what really works for deep wrinkles/ sun damage?

the new system is not here, and i worked outside for years without adequate protection from the sun.

i don't want to be overly-concerned about looks because we all age.
