Why is the Victim Always Wrong?
by Warlock ini lurked here for about 6 or 7 months, before i started posting.. i have read experience after experience in which the victim of gossip, slander, abuse in the congregation is the one who is made to feel like they are the ones who need to apologize, when they are the ones that need the apology from the perpetrators of the injustice.. .
one theme that continues to repeat itself in the congregation is this: the victim is always wrong and the victimizer is always right.

How being a JW affected me as a person
by keo15929 innot long ago i bet no one from this site would have been able to stand me for 2 seconds.
i was one of the most fiercest jws of all time.
i'd argue until i was blue in the face and i was darn good at it to.

JGnat Says Hi
by jgnat ini have been wandering around the board for a while now, and have decided it is time to contribute a bit of my history.
i have described my involvement with the witnesses as being from the outside looking in.
my sweet honey has been trying for two years to get reinstated.

We all have a story; we all went from wondering child to pragmatic adult. For some the journey is smooth, for others there are miriad kinks in the road, for others still, mountainous obstacles. I thank you for sharing yours. I rejoice with you that you have a loving husband, an independent daughter (but one that still wants to live next door) and a lovely grand daughter. I was saddened by the trials that have befallen your son, and encouraged by the fierce love of a mother.
Through all of your emotional ups and downs I am heartened that you still have a faith in Jesus and feel that he is your saviour. I am trying also to hold onto that, even though as a JW that is viewed as "causing divisions" through nothing other than opposing the harsh, unchristian way my daughter was treated I have trouble feeling that I have any standing with God.
You are a credit to womanhood and motherhood. I hope to learn more about you through your continued posting. Please continue with more chapters of your fascinating life.

Society letter read to all congregations July 28,2006 !!
by headmath ini got news of this from the jw grape vine today that at the meeting on thursday(yesterday) there was a letter read to all the congregations from the society.
for the first time the society says in the letter to prepare for great tribulation and to have plenty of emergency supplies in case of a disaster.
this has shaken the up the jws it seems.

Juni-I remember the same thing in the seventies. In fact my husband and I were studies and the mother of the woman we studied with went to the elders because her husband had asked her to stock up on staple items-not a JW but probably just wanted to take advantage of some sales or didn't want to have to go to the store too often. The elders were very seriously disturbed but told her she would have to follow his instructions to be a good wife even though it was against what the GB instructed, which was to rely on Jehovah and not stock up on supplies.

Great news. The WTS did not commit spiritual prostitution with UN.

Why does the person or persons who established this site feel that they have to come to the WT Society's defense? Why don't they just encourage the Society to explain for themselves?
It seems that their reasoning is similar to this- "I only went into this topless bar to gather information, not to join myself to a harlot."

Very sorry to hear that your dad died. Mine died one year ago. He was not a JW and did not live to know that my family is no longer in. He was military through and through and it caused many hard problems. We cannot change the past. I am determined to live my life in a way that shows love for people and so I can help ease their problems after much sadness in my life.
Please do not now be destuctive to yourself. You are worth too much to do that. Please know that others care for you. I know that your dad died loving you because he was your dad. You know you loved him. He knew that you wrote letters to him. You know hurt-now maybe you too can be a comfort to others. Take care.

Has being a Jehova's witness totally shattered your faith?
by Silvia Plath injust because the watchtower society is wrong doesn't mean that there is no god, nor does it mean there is a god.
it would interesting to now how former members have adjusted thier cosmology, or whether they are now atheists and why.
i personally see religion as a more personal matter, rather than belonging to an organization.

I am so confused I don't even know how to answer that question. My family was blind-sided by some hateful elders. Very harsh. Until then, was model JW. It was only after bad treatment that I looked on the internet. Figured if my family had been treated so badly others had, also. Typed in Jehovah's Witnesses and Abuse. As you know, that's all one has to do. The disillusionment was immediate.
On the other hand, I was another religion more than thirty years ago when I became a JW. Of course, the indoctrination is so complete that all other religions are in league with Satan, how does one pick one to join now?
I definetely believe in God. I feel that Jesus died for all mankind. He showed such sympathy to even diseased shunned lepers. Who could not admire him even if they did not feel that he was God's son?
Yes, my faith was shattered in that I do not know what to do at this point. And it has sent me into deep depression. I feel sometimes that I am living in the village of the damned. That I have no hope along with every other poster on this forum. (sorry to those of you who seem happier in your non-belief) Yet, what do I do? I cannot go back after knowing what I know now.
No wonder they do everything in their power to keep people from looking........

No Resurrection For Disfellowshipped?
by ThomasCovenant insorry if this has been covered already.. 1) what is the written policy about disfellowshipped ones having a resurrection?.
2) what if the disfellowshipped one is d'd for apostasy?.
reason i ask is an ex elder who was disfellowshipped for apostasy is very ill and may very likely die soon.

Welcome, turbonium
Is this your personal feeling or is this how you think the Watch Tower Society determines their future prospects?

Andrea Yates explained what happened in her mind five years ago. She was having dilusions that someone was peeling off her skin. She also had been listening to sermons (her husband's idea) of a street preacher who said that mothers were responsible for their children's everlasting life. In her mental state, Andrea felt that she was not a good mother. She felt that she would not do a good job raising her children and that they would go to hell. She wanted to save them from that fate by killing them while they were still innocent and not accountable. She felt that she was assuring their heavenly life.
I think as witnesses or former witnesses we can identify with the guilt, guilt and more guilt of feeling that you can never measure up and if your children are not pristine examples it is your fault.
The husband was under strict doctor's orders that she should not be left alone with the children. In fact the doctor told the husband after the fourth child that she should not have any more due to her post partum psychosis with previous children-with each child born it just gets worse.
You could tell by the videos of her and the children that she loved them very much and felt that she was sacrificing herself for them for their eternal welfare.
