5. I knew I was in trouble.
I got in trouble a lot - I always had a guilty conscience and ratted myself out.
What does it mean to me now? To help someone feel better - to elevate their self esteem.
another weekend's upon us again!
doesn't time fly when you're having fun!.....
or even when you're not, eh?

christians are preparing to enter lent.
and of course, with lent comes fasting.
orthodox christians recognize five levels of fasting:abstaining from meat (starting tomorrow at sun down) abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, and cheese abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, and fish abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, fish, oil, and wine abstaining from all foods and beverages except bread, water, juices, honey, and nuts.
I might be wrong here - but I think Lent is really a Catholic thing. I don't hear about it in other Chrisitian teachings.
I don't necessarily agree with Lent - I believe that all those laws & traditions were done away with when Christ came and were replaced with the one perfect law - love.
However - if you wanted to follow those eating guidelines as a health benefit then that could be a good thing. I gave up red meat a few months ago because I am at high risk for heart disease. I eat fish, and some poultry, but mostly vegetables, fruit, lentils, pasta, and grains. I do still eat dairy products (hey - gotta have the cheese with my wine). I feel better physically and according to my last tests I have low cholesterol and triglycerides. Meat is a good source of protein - and animals can digest the cellulous in plants that we can not so by eating animals we get nutrients we could not get any other way. For this reason I wouldn't recommend giving up meat completely - but domestic cows have a lot of crap in them - from antibiotics feed to them at the stockyard to the pesticides in the grains - as well as horomones. I would recommend excluding (or at least reducing) meat that is domestically grown - eat only non-red meat that is organically raised.
Of course - it's expensive to eat organically grown food so it's a matter of money resources also. Just my 2 cents.
now that you aren't making 5 meetings per week and going out in field service and doing all that personal study, what occupies your time?
does your life give you a sense of fulfillment?

Billygoat - that reminds me of the old saying "Preach the gospel at all times.............use words if you have to"
I have more time to spend with my family and friends - I read more books (diversity is great) - I also read more of my bible. I'm back at college (night classes) to get my bachelor's degree. I spend Sunday mornings at church, because I WANT to be there - and don't feel guilty on the occasion I decide to sleep in. One night a week I work with the youth group at church - they're a blast! Saturday's I'm either at sports events with my son, doing something with the family, or working in our yard (a past time I love).
luke 12:11-12 .
but when they bring you in before public assemblies and government officials and authorities, do not become anxious about how or what you will speak in defense or what you will say; 12 for the holy spirit will teach you in that very hour the things you ought to say.
ever noticed that when the elders are put in front of a camera asking them about sexual abuse, they tend to say "no comment"?.
You can't teach someone something if they already KNOW IT ALL.
.
just about everybody got baptized a few days after birth, unless you were born in the jw's.. so some were baptized twice, at birth and then as a jw.
now that you are out of the witnesses, does your first baptism have a new signification for you.. do you consider yourself of the religion of your first baptism.
I was baptized @ 13 by the JW's - because I wanted to look good and get a guy who was cute. I also really believed it was the "truth".
I was baptized again 2 yrs ago by a non-denominational church because I became a born again Christian. The 2nd baptism meant a lot more to me - it meant that I was free, and that I wanted to have Jesus in my life.
.
isn't it easy to spot jw's?
not only by the way they dress, but also by the way they crowd up cars.. just about every time i see 4 or more people in a car, especially when driving slowly, i know they are jehovah witnesses.. what other traits do they alone have?
1) wearing dresses in 20 below weather
2) outdated clothing and hairstyles (always 10+ yrs behind to be modest)
3) propoganda literature in the car
4) dazed look of confusion..............(I've lost the new light.....what was it again?)
i am moving next week!
i sold my townhouse and have bought a house!
it's almost double the size of where we live now.
Hooray for simplesal!!
Hubby and I just bought a larger house and we love it - so nice to have space. But we're in the same town so I still get shunned. It would be cool to move off somewhere where none of those freaks knew who I was!
someone posted this link on another board.... http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article_lc.asp?storyid=35184.
the news story was of particular interest to me, as my daughter's abuser lives about an hour south of st. louis where this story originates.. here is my email to them, as edited by my jw wife.. .
dear sir or madam: .
CoonDawg:
Your response to this - following up with the authorities - will mean more to your daughter in the future than anything else could. It shows her that you (1) believe her, and (2) will stand up to protect her. I know this because I also was molested as a child. Your actions will help build her self esteem and her courage.
Good job!!!
i need someplace to vent, so excuse me but i am very angry at the moment.
as most of you know, my father in law committed suicide last sunday (the 16th).
his death hit nina hard, but i've discovered this week that my sweet little kitten of a wife has the heart of a lion.
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
They don't like it because they don't get it - they're still blind.
I am so sorry that you are going through this. I have had similar frustrations and pain from them with two funerals in the past year. That anger just wells up and is so hard to deal with - venting is really good - I would also recommend that your wife see a counselor - I tried to deal with the anger and hurt on my own but after a while I finally realized that a counselor would help me sort it out in a positive way.
By the way - a little off the subject, but there's another line to Amazing Grace that answers why JW's just lip-sing or mumble their way through songs while you see other churches that sing out loud. I believe it is because JW's sing from a heavy heart, one that is desperate to be saved. Other's (like John Newton who wrote Amazing Grace) sing from a heart of joy that knows it's already been saved.
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
the good wife guide
have dinner ready.
plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time for his return from work.
LOL @ Freeman
Well - when I met my hubby he was dating a very pretty young girl who would do ANYTHING he told her - I mean ANYTHING. He would go out with his friends and tell her to stay at home so he could call her IF he got a chance - and she'd do it (can you believe that?!!!)
I was quite different - having been on my own a few years I was quite a bit more independent and assertive. The first day he met me he told me I was a "smart @ss" and I told him to bite me. Well......jump ahead a few years - and here we are - he dumped the cute little thing who did everything he wanted and he married the "smart @ss" who still says .........BITE ME!! Some guys would rather have a woman with brains who is fun and interesting......and "moans" just a little louder than what was suggested
