i know i don't post here that often but this just kind of blew me away.
my dad just "came out" recently as annointed and i find it so weird.
he's always been pretty level headed and he's been in for over 30 years.
Just remember:
"The partakers are not special"
Only the GB is.

Leolaia,
thanks again.

surprizeingly, i am not a jw but an observer and in partial agreement with the jehovah witnesses on many issues.
i have been to many churches in my 30 years and have studied many church beliefs, church history and the bible as well.
so why do i believe the jehovah witnesses are the one true faith of jehovah god?.
tralon,
If you believe what they teach, THEN GET THE HELL OUTA' HERE.
Thank you for your polite attention.

PS, and take Alemon with you
shropshire starapril 9, 2008. why would loving faith allow death?.
features news editor neil thomas examines the issues behind the tragic death of new mum emma gough.. words written by heaven knows who and attributed to moses have brought about the apparently needless death of a young shropshire mother, and blighted many other lives, more than 3,000 years later.. far-fetched, possibly.
yet, how else are we to interpret the death of emma gough?.
Andersoninfo quoted:
The Bible might have incited wars, inquisitions and stake-burnings but had caused no harm to those needing life-saving blood transfusions during two world wars. In 1945, though, the faith’s handbook The Watchtower - under the editorship of one Nathan Homer Norr - carried the line “the stranger was forbidden to eat or drink blood, whether by transfusion or by the mouth”.
And that was it. In 64 years since, Jehovah’s Witnesses have bled to death for their faith. Little children have died on operating tables while their parents stood by and quoted scriptures. The wider world has looked on with a mixture of horror, pity, anger and incredulity.
The Old Testament books of Genesis and Leviticus and the New Testament Acts of the Apostles have now led to a young Shropshire woman, with everything to live for, making the ultimate sacrifice. It is inconceivable that Jehovah’s Witnesses - Christians who believe in love and mercy - would want this.
Perhaps, in the wake of Emma’s death, the faith’s leaders could now spearhead a doctrinal debate on the issue.
After all, the scriptures also advocate animal sacrifice and no one practises that any more. If we can jetison The Bible to spare the lives of lambs and kids, why not humans?
As the book of Revelations says: “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.”
Perhaps, in the wake of Emma’s death, the faith’s leaders could now spearhead a doctrinal debate on the issue.
Fat Chance of a debate on doctrine.
Uninformed
i'm sure this article has come up on the forum.
can any one give me information on the numbers quoted below, in respect to them being inaccurate, correct, or what the number is more like, when you add in jw's that aren't elders, where it seems like they fail to mention here.
it almost seems they try and minimalize the the amount of abuse by only speaking of the elders here.
SF--Good quote: (this was in your quote:)
If the accused denies the charge, the two elders may arrange for him and the victim to restate their position in each other's presence, with elders also there.
One little kid, little girl or little boy, facing a perpetrator that had previously told them he will kill them and their parents if they squeal, and 3-5 "ELDERS" that don't believe a thing kids say.
now that's what I call FAIR.

obviously by my post title you can gather that i don't, but thats not to say i do not agree with lowering pollution in whichever way we can.
but on the flip side, just another money grabbing ploy by the government?
the uk government is making a big thing about it through their mouthpiece on earth, the bbc.
Gore acknowledged that so far Clinton and Obama have devoted relatively little time to discussing their platforms on climate change. But, as he told CBS: "I'm not finished yet."
I beg to differ.

i can not describe the sadness of hearing him tell me, i asked him to think about what a great part time job he has, with free schooling.
he says they will probably take him back.
his abilities are suitable for closing down brooklyn, so at least he will be there (i love nyc).

If there's a silver lining to this, I'll share it. Look how many JWDers saw the light either AT Bethel or AFTER leaving. Seeing "how the sausage is made" at God's House might be what it takes to wake up your son.
Now that was funny.

i am not sure if anyone has asked this before but i am curious.
does anyone know approximately how many of us have left the watchtower society in the past 20 years.
it seems to me that it is compounding monthly lately.
I have a feeling that over 2/3's of the people that were once witnesses are not now.
That would put about 12 million of us OUT, with 6 million in.
I was a witness for 45 years and saw a lot of people leave.
I had heard anecdotally that if everyone that ever was a witness was still active that the org would have 15 to 20 million.

the watchtower "flag" by request!
request from researcher: atlantis, can you help me find this quote?
"at every convention resolutions were adopted by almost a unanimous vote approving the present management of the watch tower bible and tract society and its officers, pledging unreserved loyalty to the society.
That quote is unbelieveable! I had heard it, even recently, but never hoped they would have it in print.
3 years ago, in June, at our district conv in Kansas City, at Kemper arena, the GB speaker in closing prayer, used the same words, pledge allegiance to the 'visible organization' the WT Society, and of course, we did not say AMEN.
I will also add it was the last assembly, the last meeting I will ever attend.
Good find.
