You guys are unbelievable! Atlantis that was a great post and the research was the best.
The WTS is in trouble with this group watching them.

does anyone know if the watchtower has ever claimed to be inspired?
i know that they claim to be directed by holy spirit, which means the same as being inspired, but have they ever used the word inspired?

i heard first hand from an elder that they are makin shpeherding calls using certain pages of the keep on the watch!
brochure, at the direction of the society.. i can't remember the page numbers, but the article is about our priorities and having a sense of urgency in the times we live in.. as this is coming from the society, do you think they are worried, what with their 1.3% increase for 2005 service year?.
i mean, this is 2006 after all, not 1998 - the society have given jw's nothing to hope for anymore, no sense of the impending doom of babylon the great.

i will tell you why i think that you didn't get picked later.
Sounds like Low Key is not a redneck, just maybe a pink neck.
this is probobly a long shot & i doubt it`s happened but does anyone know if any circuit overseers or district overseers have ever left.
if so, in what circumstances?
I can't add any actual account of a CO or DO leaving but I did hear a rumor in the early 80's:
The rumor was that Dennis Trumbore, a DO and KM School instructor in Chicago (he was my instructor in 1972) developed some serious doubts about the Org and the GB brought him into Brooklyn and worked with him for several months to assuage his concerns.
Reportedly he "recovered" and stayed with the borg.
I saw him at a Chicago Dist. Convention in the mid 90's and he seemed a different person.
Anyone know anything about him?

I quit going to the BS meeting (no pun intended) last May when we were studying the "Keep on the Watch" brochure. I was stunned with the chapter that discussed 'warnings' that people shoul pay heed to.
The mentioned, earthquakes, tornados and interestingly NEVER did mention ANY THING specifically for us to watch for, just simply, Keep on the Watch! It was amazing, go back and read it, it will blow your mind. Absolutely not a word about the UN, Scarlet WB, or the end of the system, just Keep on the Watch.
I'm proud to say it was my last bookstudy, forever with the WTS.

i just got a bit nostalgic when i see an old nwt that i have that still has the old 4 page sheet that compares the nwt to other translations.
the one that i always remembered was the kj version using the word "shambles" and the nwt using the words "meat market.
i guess i am showing my age here (late 40's).
How about the comparison to the AS in Isaiah 14:23----"Besom of destruction" NWT--"Broom of annihilation"
1. moultrie georgia, my dad helped build the town's first kingdom hall.. 2. ft. walton beach, told ken rogers i wanted to marry his daughter melanie.
3. pensacola, always ticked off that i had to go to meeting when lost in space was coming on.
4. jesup, ga, tiny little white block bldg, had to pass speaker to go to the bathroom, i was only witness kid in the town.

clearly they are god's organization
You shouldn't make fun of their efforts to keep the Good News of the Kingdom so prominent in our lives.
(Probably was an article to fulfill some agreement with Hershey)

I can't pinpoint the date and don't have the old wt issues to tell you when, but during the 60's and 70's, if not later, on the 2nd page of the WT under the "PURPOSE OF THE WATCHTOWER", for years and years they stated, "The Watchtower is NO inspired prophet."
At some point in time they removed that expression, when, I don't know exactly, but a person could interpret the change that they now think they are inspired. Pretty thin though.
The important view of this question is that they ACT like they think they are inspired.
Bunch of haughty arrogant jerks.

a watchtower from 1968 (on the 2004 watchtower libary cd) is intact as it should be, and guess what the society did then...not only did they predict 1975 at a convention.
they released a book with a chart that proves that mans 6000 year reign on earth was up...then on the same cd from 1993 they claim that anyone who got the date 1975 was just very keen and read too much into the mags.
if anyone wants exact names and dates of articles e.t.c i can go upstairs and get them off the pc.
KW 13,
The book released in 1968 at the DA that had that chart was "Life Everlasting In Freedom For the Sons Of God".
the chart is at the end of Chapter 1. and it states:
1975------------End of 6th 1,000-year day of man's existence
2975------------End of 7th 1,000-year day of man's existence
On page 30, just preceding the chart, the book states:
"It would not be by mere chance or accident but would be according to the loving purpose of Jehovah God for the reign of Jesus Christ, the "lord of the sabbath," to run parallel with the seventh millennium of man's existence."
They said it, and they try to deny it every time they get a chance.
