Back in 1985 when I was DF'd ( then went and got reinstated, what was I thinking ) my best friend at the time was also going through rough times, got involed with drugs, etc. Even though I was DF'd, he would always talk to me. We still had a good friendship. He had told me on a monday night after work that he was going to be DF'd that coming Thursday. He never made it. He was hit by a drunk driver on Wesnesday. Somehow word got out by the elders. There was NO kingdom hall talk, and NO witnesses showed up at the funeral home. When I showed up, his mother ( at the time a strong witness ) broke down into tears and hugged me like she would of her dead son coming back to life. This was one of the worst things I have ever had to experience. Says alot about the Borgs CONDITIONAL love.

Do You Think Witnesses Deal With Death Properly?
by minimus injws aren't supposed to breakdown in their emotions for it could be a sign that you put too much emphasis on the temporary.
just focus on the ressurection, for heaven' sake!
don't mourn like the world that does not have hope!

So does that mean that JW's can join the YMCA for the sole purpose of using the pool, since using the pool in no way conflicts with their bible based dogma?????????

Silence is Golden
by LittleToe inin part this thread is an apology to dansk.. by way of an explanation; about a year ago i posted to someone that they should show little compuncture about lying to a body of elders, since the wts would only apply theocratic warfare to them, and do the same.
dansk (rightly in my opinion) reprimanded me about it, though i uncomfortably defended my position at the time.. well, i was raised better than that.
"two wrongs don't make a right", and lying was never on the agenda in our household.

I remember a while back when I had a phone conversation with an elder. I told him of the Mexican scam and how it was outright lying. His reply was that as long as it was not a malicious lie it was alright. I hung up the phone on him. Haven't seen or heard from him since.

WT library idea
by coffee_black insome here have original copies going back to russell's time.
would it make sense to have a resource library available where we pool what we have?
i have quiet a lot...it's sitting in boxes in my daughter's garage in florida at the moment, but i can get it at some point.

As far as the WT's own CDrom, I wouldn't trust it as far as I can throw it. They have been shown to change things written in their magazines vs. what came out in the bound volumes. Now with modern technology you can bet your house that they are very careful of what they put on their CD's. It wouldn't surprise me if they change from CD to CD as they produce newer versions.
I think its a great idea Coffee, only if we could get original scans. I have most original books from the 60's to present. I also have bound volumes from 1970. Have quite a bit of the booklets and brochures.
If you need anything in particular, I can see if I have it. The Claw.

Please compare the WTS legal fight for freedom of religion versus their rabid fight to suppress information about them (especially your site).
Quotes, I agree here. The WT always blows its own horn about how most religions in the States owe the WT for many of the freedoms that they enjoy due to all the hard work they did in the courts over the years. Now they turn around and try to suppress the very freedoms they worked so hard to get people.

This may be my last postÂ…so goodbye and thanks
by seven006 ini never thought i would do one of those infamous goodbye i cant take this board anymore posts where the person shows up again a week later and looks like an idiot.
when i had enough of this board and needed a little break i would just quietly leave for a few months and hopefully nobody noticed.
that is not the case this time.

Hi Dave, In one of the earlier postings on this thread I read about "Brown Shoes". So I got ahold of your Threads about your Bethel trips. I've read all of them except #3. I cant find that thread. Has that one been deleted? It was facinating reading by the way. Take care Dave, Jim.

Disposable People
by MerryMagdalene insince my mom decided she needed to put full shunning back into effect again (an unconscious new year's resolution to be a better jw?
), i've been ransacked by a whole bunch of emotions which have been gradually resolving into thoughts.
the sense of being completely disposable, expendable, replaceable.
