Welcome KW, My wife still brings home all the latest issues as she still attends all meetings. I read them to see if anything strange is going on. I am starting to keep every issue, since I don't trust the bound volumes or the Cdrom to be accurate, seeing how they have a way of changing what was originally printed. I used to have every issue of the WT & AW from 1966, then through them all away since I had the bound volumes, What did I know???

JW literature
by KW13 in.
recovering from being a jw is hard as hell, all your structure and life is built on study, ministry and meetings.. leaving is like someone after stacking up boxes to make steps, pulling the bottom box away...but the people who make it through become strong people and rebuild their lives, make new friends and move on.. what i want to ask is could you read literature by/for jw's now you have left?
i think yes, my reason being is i know that they play with information and then change ideas, there is evidence of this in older literature.. as for current literature i wouldn't bury my head, yes i don't agree with what they say but i am not afraid to point out things.

They told me to send them a letter
by Honesty ini called the wtbt$ service department yesterday afternoon and mentioned that in times past the brothers would enter into public forums with members of christendom to prove their doctrines false.
the publications always stated that the brothers always won these open discussions by refuting christendom's doctrines by using only the bible.
i then challenged the wtbt$ to meet me on an open forum to discuss the following subjects:.

Yep, there they are ALWAYS ready to make a defense for the truth right. My wife ( I love her dearly ) is the same way, she wont talk or defend the truth when I bring up subjects. The only difference between her and the WTBT$ is that my wife knows my addy and email. LOL

David2002 Please Reply on Point!
by AK - Jeff inon another thread david2002 said; regarding, 1975: i have asked brother who were in the truth prior to 1975 about whether or not they believed the end was coming.
the vast majority tell me "no.
" i even know one sister who told me that her mother thought it was coming, but the daughter advised her not to fall into that conclusion.

Well my family became JW's in 1969, I wanted to quit high school, because I thought the New System would be here in 1975. Many publications have hinted heavily in that direction. KM's , Wt's.Aw's , books talks by CO's, DO's and so on. Where the hell do you think the R/F got this idea?????? I know, I lived it. And I am STILL paying the price of not getting a higher education my friend. This is REALITY not some pipe dream.

What was your first Apostasy?
by Dune ini'm re-reading 1984 and the similarities between the wtbs and the "party" astound me, but anyway, it made me think of the time when i started to get doubts (thoughtcrime).. i remember once at this book study a sister commented about the 1914 and was reciting it's historical accuracy.
anyway, she went on to mention that the demons were probably learning everything about biblical prophecies from the wtbs.
i was 13 at the time but the comment made me cringe, i was thinking "why would superior beings need humans to interpret the bible for them?

JW's and Charity
by DaveNwisconsin intoday i was chatting with one of the jehovah witness men from work.
he is like a big guy in the hall who can marry other jehovah's.
anyhow i am wondering if i should ask him if the people at the hall give to the homeless or have an outreach program for the poor.

Dave, he will have the classic answer that the preaching work they do is a "Life saving work". But that doesn't put food on the tables or a roof over the head. They've been playing that song for the past 100 years or so now. "Its just around the corner". How many have starved in the past 100 years?

Baptisim/Disfellowshipping & Age
by Krystal ini apologize if i am re-posting a topic that was already discussed, but i have a question:.
i was baptised when i was 14 and disfellowshipped at 17... major life changing decisions all made before i was 18. .
has anyone ever tried to have their baptisim/disfellowshipping annulled based on the fact that they were too young to enter into such a contract?

Pesonally I dont think anyone should get baptized until they are adults. I got baptized at 14. Way too young. Think the borg allows it for the Numbers. After all they say we should follow Christs example. Well what do we find about Jesus? How old was he when he got baptized? And if anyone at age 12 was ready to get baptized, it certainly was Jesus. Good luck trying to get your baptizm annulled, I think the Borg would refuse on 2 counts.
1: The Numbers game
2: They cant disfellowship you, and lose control.
