How many remember the 1969 8 day convention?
by seek2find inanybody remember the 8 day 1969 international convention.
i was at the braves stadium in atlanta all 8 days with a sunburn and then wet clothes after the rain storms.
if you were there (not necessarily in atlanta) do you remember anything about it?

I was there, if I remember correctly it was in Kitchener, and we camped at Bingham park. I do not remember anything about the convention itself.

If we are "free". Why are we still debating?
by tapout1 inthis question is for all of us who were ever associated with the wts.
baptized, ministerial servants, elders, pioneers, etc, etc.
why is it that a lot of us call ourselves "free" when in fact we keep debating, putting down, hating, examining, analizing everything the wts does, did and will do?

I'm going to be disfellowshipped on Wednesday
by Thinking of Leaving inthe elders cames to my home on saturday and i didn't answer the door, so they told my sister to relay the message.
the message was "you know what it's about, we're going to make the announcement next meeting".
i knew it was coming...but it feels so weird.

Do they not believe in Canada's Privacy Act. Why are they telling your sister confidential stuff like that.
I definitely would ask them that, and ask for a written apology. Man they've got their nerve.

Basically born in my mother joined when I was a baby. Was df'd in 1980 and have never been in a KH since. Best thing that ever happened to me, even though I lost my whole family. But still worth it for the peace of mind.

We recently visited Quebec city and no-one would speak English to us. All four people in our group said it was our last visit there. But on such a trip there is so much to see. I agree with other posters that have mentioned sites in the eastern provinces and Ontario. Niagara Falls is a must as there is so much to see and do. Also Banff and Jasper are beautiful in the summer. Happy Holidays and have a safe trip.

Is it time to Reconsider Nuclear Power? Article re: Stewart Brand, and more
by Seeker4 inhttp://www.peoplesvoicemagazine.com/.
above is a link to an article i just wrote on the movement among some environmentalists to reconsider nuclear energy, focusing in particular on stewart brand, the futurist, author, entrepeneur and genius who created the whole earth catalog, the well, and lots of other extremely cool stuff.
click on the link and then click on the main feature at the top of the page, where it mentions brand.. brand is also a scientist, and is basing his change of view about nuclear power on reason and science as opposed to the romantic emotionalism of much of the environmental movement.. this is a huge change in the focus of some environmentalists and is creating quite a stir.

I have to agree with wanderer: Do you really know how much waste this produces. It is great.
Where I live there is a company that produces the tanks that contain this nuclear waste. Do you know where they are stored. What happens if a hundred years down the line these tanks start to rust and break up. If this happens our great lakes will be polluted with radio-active pollution. I've seen them made and know that this can happen.
