When I left the dubs I also started smoking cigars and my favorite drink was scotch.
I Quit both 20 years ago.
well, if exit polls are grounds to call the presidency just hours into the vote count then i can conclude that in only 3 days of quitting the tobacco habit that this it!.
7 years ago when i left the borg i started smoking cigars, as it went well with scotch, and was deliciously a naughty thing to do after 18 years in the cult(ure).
i started to inhale, as i am prone to do, and then concluded i would be better off with cigarettes.

i don't know about you guys, but it stressed me alot to be a jw.. i never did like talking in public, in front of a group, or going door to door.. gee, i hated the tms meeting.
the moment i knew that i had a talk, i became nervous and often i had a hard time sleeping.
just knowing that i had to talk for 5 minutes in front of the whole congrgation got me nervous weeks ahead of time.
My most stressful time was knocking on doors. I always hoped no one would be home.
I would push the door bell but not hard enough to make it ring. I always had more not at homes
than anybody else. I would hate working with anyone who would knock if the bell did'nt work.
it's very strange what happened to me those days.
right now im leaving the borg and moving from my appart(im with a pioneer).
im keeping myself informed and right now im reading crisis of conscience by raymond franz.
It's like coming off a big drunk (watchtower propaganda) you wiil be hung over for a whlie
but eventually your head will clear
during your stint in the wts were there any jws that would regularly harass and persecute you because of jealousy or sheer malice rather than due to any "apopstate ideas?
I remember one time I was going to punch the P.O.'s son out and he threatened to have his
dad df me, But I did it any way. He thought he had a lot of pull.
my father showed me a watchtower, i thing it was feb 1st 2006. the last sentence of the first article said something like the reader could live to see god's judgement.
.
anybody has the latest issues at hand?
Notice they said could and not would. But all the little dubs will buy into it.
It's like saying a cow could jump over the moon, by wether
it would is another story.
what did you do with your literature when you left?
i burned my literature except for the wt cd which i sold on ebay.
i did not want to just throw the literature away as i did not want the trash man to read it and become a witness.
Like jeanniebeanz I left mine with my ex. That was 26 years ago.
did your self esteem increase or decrease after being in the organization for a while?
I ahd no self esteem as a dub, so mine increased manyfold
i remember hearing of a faithful older brother who was attacked by vicious dogs while in service.
even though his clothes were shredded and he was bleeding he continued walking door to door to finish his assigned territory for that day.
Goldminer.....I loved your story, im still laughing
jehovah's witnesses have survived hitler, stalin, and third world dictators too numerous to count.
126 years of false expectations.
have failed to dissuade them.
Give them lots of rope and they will hang themslves
i mean - many of us had a history that was exclusively in the 'truth'.
nothing else.. now having left, do you long for a discussion with some who share your past culture, understandings, and lifestyle?.
is that the 'appeal' of this board to many?
I feel disconnected from many family members who are still in the lie. But for the rest I say
"GOOD RIDANCE" Did I spell that right.
