She said I seem really bitter about my JW experience....
by Sirona in.
i was talking to someone at my new job - she has known me for about 3 months and had something like 2 five minute conversations with me about the jws.. she said "you do come across as really bitter about it".. (note she is definately not a jw).. it was a real eye opener, because although i try and educate people about the truth of jws, i didn't think i was "bitter".. what about you?

I was lied to, lied about, those bastards made my life a total misery for the last 2 years I went to meetings. They accused me of various offences, including theft, an affair with a customer on my window cleaning round, both completely untrue. They watched my flat on non - meeting nights to see if I went anywhere, and demanded an explanation of what I was doing when I did go out (didn't get one though), when I broke a bone in my foot and couldn't make meetings or service they refused to arrange help to get me to the kh, despite my asking, then reproved me for non - attendance and no service report, ignored my attempts to comment at meetings then counselled me for not commenting, and when I finally stopped going they were never away from my home till I told them to f**k o**. Then, for the last few years they largely ignored me, but for some reason started taking an interest again, which is why I finally da'd a few months ago.
Yes, you could say I'm a little bitter.....

Can You Spot A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus inif you've ever been away on vacation, have you noticed a jw is in your midst?
what stands out to you in knowing that a certain person "must" be a jw?

I spotted a couple on my recent holiday, my friends didn't believe me when I said what these two were, they looked too "normal", but then one of them offerred us a tract. I was put on dub watch for the rest of the holiday!

Hello, new to posting here!
by doffy injust wanted to pop in and say hi.. i'm from the uk and have made quite a few ex jw friends.
we have met up a few times, and it's great to be with others who understand (my sense of humour lol!).
i have been df for 14 years, and in the process became the black sheep of the family ( a familiar story).

I got the lie later in life...
Started studying aged 40 in 1991, when the dubs came knocking
Baptised in 1992
Regular Pioneer in 1993
Minsterial Servant in 1995
Started to have doubts by 1997
Stopped attending meetings in 1999+
Just drifted along for a few years, then the jws started calling again for some reason, and was reminded by an elder that I was still a baptised jw, so decided it was time to change that
Disassociated in July this year, on the 13th anniversary of my baptism, thought that would round things off nicely

I am not alone!!!!!
by Krisiva10 init took me a bit of reading through some posts to realize that this site is exactly what i have been looking for, for such a long time!!
people to share my blown away realization i experienced after i quit going to the meetings and went against my mother!
it feels great to see people who have gone through and felt the same as i and who have taken the steps to change their life.

Doesn't It Suck That You Got Scammed By The Witnesses?
by minimus inthink about everything you could have been doing while you were an active jw.
and even if you weren't a "true believer", think of all the wasted time you put into the "truth"-----for nothing!
sucks, doesn't it?

I gave up money, career, girlfriend and, for a while, my non - borg friends and family chasing a dream that turned into a nightmare.
Yeah, that REALLY sucks

Why write a letter of disassociation?
by tfsm inmy question may seem vague but if one decides to leave "the organization", why write a formal letter?
why not just leave and not have any further contact with the witnesses?
is there some legitimate legal reason for this or do people do this because the witness thinking has overtaken their logic?

I wrote a letter only a couple of months ago, almost 6 years after my last kh visit. I did it because, after not being bothered for a while, I was starting to get visits and phone calls again, not many, I will admit, but an elder I met in the street reminded me that, despite it being several years since I had attended, I was still a baptised jw.I realised how much I hated that thought, and wrote my da letter a couple of weeks later, around the time I discovered this board. I am glad I did it now, I am officially out of the borg and won't get bothered again.

Worse Case Scenario Mentality
by tall penguin ini'm finding this to be a difficult pattern of thinking to over-ride.
being raised a jw we're always on edge waiting for armageddon and so we see everything around us in light of that.
i still find myself going down that road mentally whenever i get any unexpected news in life.

When I first started to fade, I had those "what ifthey're right" feelings for a while, I guess its the fear factor they instil into all their victims, but after a year or so away, I didn't believe much of it anyway, and I don't believe any of it now. It will be the same for you TP, it just takes time.
Take care
