Do I understand that they only choice she has to take him back as her husband? Should she take him back before regaining her trust and respect? How long is she given by the WTS to do this? One year, 2 years, 3 years. If she has sex with him before that, the WTS says she no longer has grounds for a scriptural divorce. Why doesn't the WTS mention that he should get an AIDS test before she decides to take him back or not? Why is divorce not mentioned as an option? This has always bothered me. How is a woman supposed to figure out this life altering in a couple of weeks? And whose business is it whether the couple has sex or not?

Someone asked about hospitals nearby. The closest one I know of to Bethel is the Brooklyn Hospital. It is privately run.

Did anyone really buy into the "Universal Sovereignty" issue?
by loli ini am new to the forum, but not new to jw indoctrination.
even as a child, i would ask myself, "why would the almighty creator need to prove anything to anyone, including him/her/itself?
really, one of the few scriptures that i do actually agree with is that 'god is love.

And furthermore, why can't God do his own work? Why do people who have to work to care for themselves and their families then have to take what precious little time they have left to answer the "universal challenge?"

The "New World" post Armageddon - childish fantasy
by Gregor inthe wts provides illustrations of well clothed and fed people standing around grinning at each other at some never ending picnic.
that's nice.
but with all the focus recently on the aftermath of hurricane katrina i got to thinking of the practical problems of a post-armageddon world.

I think the same thing whenever there is some disaster. Or war devastation like what was done in South Lebanon. That Paradise thing is so impractical. Whats more the average dub thinks its on the other side of Armagedon. They forget that there is a 1000 year wait!

Why no e-mail and PDF?
by JamesBrian ini am new to the group, so i apologize in advance if this has been discussed.. i study comparitive religion, so my query is not so much anti-jw as it trying to understand.. on the jw site - both watchtower and jw-media, no jw magazines, brochures (save for some fact sheets from jw media) are available in pdf.
comparitively to other religions, they're more than happy to offer pdf brochures, magazines, tracts, etc., to get the word out.
moreover, there is no e-mail contact whatsoever - they are implicite that they don't repond to e-mail - except for the "want to learn more" page, presumably for recruitment.. i assume this is a thoughtout premeditated strategy related to distribution or containment, rather than simply not embracing technology.

If one of Jehovah's Witnesses writes to Watchtower with any kind of question, it is reported back to the elders of their congregation. This is not a religion that relishes open communication with its members, let alone non-JWs.

What's the point of the HLC's?
by PopeOfEruke innow that the wt society allows most individual blood components to transfused as a "conscience matter", what remains the purpose of the hospital liaison commitee's?
why doesn't the wts just wind this commitee stuff back now?
it must cost precious time and money to organise these hlc's.

Generally the HLCs don't get involved unless requested by the local elders. I have asked my family not to discuss my health with anyone from the congregation. If no one knows anything, then no call is made.

The Next Prediction
by truthsetsonefree ini believe that the governing body, whether directly or by implication, will predict the great tribulation very soon.
1. they have predicted for a long time now that religion would be destroyed.
2. after the destruction of religion, gog and his hordes would attack the watchtower.

Keith Reddin's "Brutality of Fact," review in New York
by Dogpatch infor those of you who have already seen the play, how did you like it?

What I like about this play is that it deals with the reality of being a JW. Many of the stories that I have read on this forum could have been used as the basis for that play, that is how realistic it is.

They can get around the Peace and Security bit. They have said so many things about where that fits in, so long as it comes before Armagedon. Plus they just need to say that they have new lght and they can say what they want. I think they will dance around the prediction. That way they can always deny having actually said it. But I dare say they are already making this prediction with this false religion tract. And many JWs will see the "Worldwide Message" heading as a sign that this is the real thing. Silly I know but isn't most things this cult does?
