I know!!! Isnt it the coolest!!!
I've been watching that site every day, it seems that there will probably be more yet to come. I can imagine Homer is getting a hell of a show!
woo hoo..there is a volcano trying really hard to erupt in my state!!
so cool..it's on an island by itself and is currently experiencing indigestion.
just thought i'd share....i don't look forward to the ash fallout or anything, but it's pretty exciting to see mother nature at work!.

I would envision a "Not Without My Daughter" type drama.
i'm invited to wedding/reception tomorrow (on christmas-naturally) only reason i'm going is because its my one chance to get new shoes, dress, the whole bit at my mother's expense (since she seems to think i will find my future middle-aged elder husband at one of these functions)
i definetly plan to buy one of those mini-bottles of seagrams and get buzzed of course.
who wants to listen to 10 different speeches from family and friends about "how wonderful this spiritual union is of so and so) yawn!
Wow- I'm just suprised that any JWs were allowed to have booze at their weddings. I thought it was forbidden! I've been to quite a few Dub weddings and it boiled down to being a fancy potluck. Tons of food, no booze, and if there was dancing it was to the Kingdom Melodies (doesn't that just inspire romantic warm fuzzies???). As a kid they were fun, something different with cake involved. Now as an adult and having gone to normal weddings... I couldn't imagine spending all that money on a dress for a Elder-policed potluck.
i've been doing a lot of research lately about jws and their beliefs for various reasons, not the least of which is curiosity (don't worry, i'm not converting - i'm curious, not insane!!
), and i've come across a few things that don't make much sense to me.
well, most of these things don't make sense to me, but some stand out more than others.. so, in my wanderings, i've seen lots about whether or not jws believe that they're the only ones who get to survive "armageddon" and live in "paradise earth" and such, and the general answer tends to be, "well, others will get the chance to be resurrected at "armageddon", too, if they're worthy", or something like that.
Unfortunatley for JW's, though, there is no "Get out of Jail Free" cards. Just because your in "The Truth" doesnt mean you get to sit back and relax and mentally redecorate your favorite house in the neighborhood for when they get killed off. (although I think some do anyways)
JW's spin their wheels their whole lives trying to measure up to some impossible standard of being found "acceptable". Even when I was a good little Elders daughter, I still flinched everytime a loud plane flew over, thinking my end had come. It's a terrible system of control.
just officially finished my christmas shopping and came home to drop everything off before i had to go pick up our oldest son at kindergarten.. i ran out to check the mail before leaving and 2 elders were walking up our steps.. one of them has been to our house before and he is the same one who did the despicable funeral talk at my husbands grandmothers funeral.. the conversation goes:.
i called the wts legal office and your organisation has been informed that if you come to our home, call or send us mail you will be trespassing and it will be considered a form of harrassment and i will call the police.. elder bw - we came to see if ________ was home so we could speak to him about his intentions?.
me - unlike you, my husband actually works for a living, he's at work like most decent people during the day!
I honestly have no clue what the criterea is for obtaining one, but I would be considering a restraining order. Perhaps then they would know that you mean business. I mean, criminy... how many times can you politely tell someone to get off your property before their presense there can be considered threatening?
Good for you for telling them off!!!
.
i will be off work from thurdsay dec. 22nd after 3:00 pm to monday jan 2nd... eleven days!
i wasn't able to make any solid plans because the time off was not 100% certain... but now it is.. what should i do with my time off????
Sleep in
she would not stop clawing everything, no matter what i tried.
i'd like to avoid declawing if at all possible.
i found these rubber tips online and glued them to her claws.
I love your kitties new manicure! Good for you for trying to find a humane alternative that you and your kitty can both be happy with!
I have actually never heard of those or seen them. I saw the picture before I read the post and I thought you painted your cats toenails. My first thought was "How did she get it to sit still long enough???" lol!
my mum has been inactive for the best part of a decade.
the other week, the daughter of the woman my mum studied with to become a jw popped over to see mum (they are good friends).
the daughter was saying how she probably won't get baptised herself as there is too much she doesn't agree with, but that she thinks jws are right.
I'm really sorry you have to go through this!
First of all, you need to know that this really has nothing to do with you. It really seems like she has alot of pent up agression, and you are a convenient punching bag right now for an outlet of her wrath. She probably has a lot of very confusing feelings and thoughts to deal with right now, and it's easy for her to blame you. I would give her some space and time, let her work through this grieving process (as Gretchen pointed out) and then reconnect later when the situation isnt so volatile.
I wish you the best of luck and hope things work out. Although it doesn't seem like it now, I really think it will.
metatron used that expression on a thread.
what evidence do you have that the "organization" "just "doesn't get it"??
?
Their obvious lack of love. Isn't that supposed to be the marker for true Christians?
ok guys, i've been contemplating the world of the jws - which isn't an especially good idea because the more you think about it, the less sense it makes - and the whole "we don't do anything pagan" thing is really getting to me, just because it's so hypocritical.. so what i'm looking for is this - a list of any and all pagan practices that are just fine, according to wts rules and regulations.
anything big or small that's not banned by the wts but clearly has pagan origins.. and to make myself clear, i'm not looking to argue, i'm not looking to irritate any of the jws we have lurking around here (sweetscholar comes to mind), i'm just looking for a list, plain and simple.. let me start:.
) windchimes.
Pretty much EVERYTHING in a wedding ceremony- the wedding veil, bridesmaides, flowers etc.
Pinatas
Saying "Amen"- This was used by ancient Egyptians to evoke a super secret god.
Shoot- Even our current calendar is based on pagan beliefs and practices.
