Thanks TS.
Carla, I'm hoping that the sites listed above won't have a slant (Christian or Jewish) and will rather approach it from the angle of science. But any Jewish sites you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

could anyone confirm or deny if the sisters code of dress still prohibits the wearing of trousers?.
I didn't want to go to Memorial this year, but did so for my dh's sake. I told him I refused to wear a dress or skirt though. It felt to liberating to walk into that KH in pants.

when i was a regular attender, most of my jw "friends" were pioneers because that is who we spent our days with, lol.
well, it always annoyed the crap out of me when the pioneers would act like they were so special when they were able to get a new publication prior to its arrival at the local kh.
they were basically bragging about their connections.

Also, there was also this race to see who could brag that they finished reading a new publication the fastest. The week after the convention was always the worst. Ughh!
I was so bad. When I would get the publications whether it be magazines in the mail or publications at the convention, I would scan through to see it there were any topics that hadn't been rehashed a zillion times already. Then the thought of having to study it eventually brought tears of boredom to my eyes.

25 years total .
15 years baptized .
also, does the resentment for jw's grow in a linear or a exponential manner with time spent as a jw?.
My entire life, baptized at age 14.
how many people that come to this board are faders only?
i am interested to know the statistics on how many people have left the borg because they have discovered their untruths or become disillusioned.. thanks,.
miss peache
I am a fader - started slowing down in meeting attendance when I was having a hard time keeping my second baby quiet during the meetings and felt awkward (three yrs ago). Sealed my decision when the elders, during a shepherding call to encourage stronger meeting attendance, encouraged me to bring a wooden spoon to meetings to control my 18 month old..been back maybe three times since.
JT,
FADED IN 1998, and will re-appear once Lady C and I have completed our book, we have been invited to so many churches here in DC to speak on JW- The knock at the Door-
Have you looked into what the law as far as slander, etc.? I've considered writing an expose, but am not even sure if writing such a book could lead me into the a possible suit with the WTS.

i have a dilemma (did i spell dilemma correctly?
): i am the only person i know, of any of my former witness associates, who left because i started doubting/stopped believing the teachings.
i did research on the internet, read books, talked to people from different religions, etc.
I left for similar reasons as you. Personally, I can't imagine choosing to hang out with anyone who still believes in the propaganda (mates don't count, LOL). Life is way too short to waste one more day feeling guilty or deprived.
What do you like to do for fun? Join a club or group that shares your interests and start experiencing true friendship.
Best wishes!

we received the following card in the mail today from a young us friend:
the senior class of xx high school announces the commencement exercise <at time> <at place>... .
she also enclosed in the envelope a couple of pretty photos of herself.
Parents and friends are present and many clap as their child/friend walk across the stage.
I went through my entire school years as a JW and with two other JW's in my class. They graduated early because they hated school. I loved school and wanted to get a couple extra classes under my belt. When commencement day came, my parents refused to attend because it was considered worldly in my congregation. While the other two JW's were invited to participate, they were swayed by the prevailing elder body's attitude. Of course, being that I am very stubborn, I attended and brought my JW boyfriend from another cong and a friend from another cong. I received honors and wasn't about to blow off what little praise I received in my life, especially since college was completely out of the question for a future pioneer. Bleck!!! Fourteen years later, I am especially glad I attended as it was one less thing that the JW's stole away from me, I still remember my boyfriend (20 yrs old) whistling at me as I walked up to get my diploma. He, he...
When I decided to get my college degree at the age of 31 (still a JW in "good standing" but starting to see the light) my parents again freaked out. Why would I want to pursue a "worldly" accomplishment and not just aim toward pioneering again. The funny thing is I have a successful business doing what I love, but I will always regret not going to college if I don't accomplish it. I felt the opportunity was stolen from me. As all my schoolmates were partying the dorms, I was getting married and moving where the need was greater. I will never be someone who parties in the dorm, but I crave learning and plan to do it just for the experience. Does that make sense to anyone but myself??
