  i having been "lurking" around here for about a month--right when i was disfellowshipped actually.

  in a year long relationship--broke up-five months later had a bout of conscience and told on myself.

  myself and my ex are disfellowshipped and now most of my former group of "friends" are getting in trouble.

  Is the Watchtower hurting financially?

  while surfing e-watchman's paradise forum, i clicked on one of the topics i never go to, "our meetings & assemblies" and found an interesting post on the wt bleeding financially.. it was posted 3 months ago.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/viewtopic.php?t=2888&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0.

  in my neck of the woods (which shall remain anonymous) the do and co have been circulating the rumour that the watchtower society is in financial straights and is being bled dry.

  this must be very pressing.

  I NEVER give them anything for their mags or books or anything else,they are filthy rich and trying to make profit look like contributions!

  At last finished reading Crisis of Conscience

  and what an eye opener it was...dont get me wrong i faded some 10 years ago and the reasons for such were contained in the book, i.e 1914, failed prophecies and so forth.. the expose is disarming by its objective style and whilst i now read any literature through sceptical eyes i could see a person genuinely grieved by what had taken place and the crisis he was subjected to conscientiously; it said it all to me when he said that his aim was not to divert people from the jws but give them support so they could develop as christians and therefore allow them to come to their own conclusions (or words to that effect).. extremely well written and consise with reams of references (which i happen to love).. anyone that is recently out must read this book...it objective, honest and was totally surprising in parts.. db74

  Hey Diamondblue!

  Way to go,I think I read the book 3 or 4 times and learnt something everytime.You absolutely have to get In Search of Christian Freedom.It speaks a little deeper on a many subjects and will answer even more of your questions and doubts.Raymond Franz did an excellent job with his books and many of us owe him a debt of gratitude.

  i have been a regular visitor to this forum for the past 2 years or so, finally i got the courage to register.. you guys are an inspiration , your stories and experiences have helped me to take a stand against this controlling org.. in short, i was raised from birth as a jw, parents are from the old school very much hard liners, the society is their god.

  is expected of you, get baptised as a teenager become a ms then elder.

  i always had my doubts about the society and its teachings but was.

  Excellent post Metatron!

  I'm sitting here trying to think how many people I know who have left the org.I really can't think of them all,I'd have to take out pen and paper and start writing names;a very long list.

  In my wife's family 3 out of 4 (75%) are out,in my sister's family 1 of 3 (33%)so far and there are many other families like that.Those that are still all in have many who are unhappy or sick or just going through the motions.I even firmly believe that the WTS is fudging its numbers to make look as though they still have a positive increase every year.The circuit and district assemblies here have declined close to 30% over the last 8 years and I suspect it's similar in many other districts.

  this is my first post and here's my story.. my father became a witness long ago and my mom remained a lutheran.

  our attendance was sporadic due to mom's opposition.

  they knew our mom was lutheran and that she kept us from attending many meetings.

  Anyways,get the books Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom,both written by Raymond Franz.Read them and you'll feel good about your decision to walk away from this whacked-out man-made religion.

  Consolidated Guerilla Apostasy Tactics for 2005 District Conventions

  we've had several very interesting threads going on about how those of us who are still on the inside can work to open the eyes of the witnesses at the district conventions this summer.

  since people have been making scattered suggestions on scattered threads, i thought we should start a consolidated thread here that lays all the options out on the table for those that want to be a part of it.

  I'll be going this coming week-end.I've thought about leaving notes and the post-it notes sounds good.I was thinking of writing www.freeminds.org or www.jehovahs-witness.com on them,I'm sure that somebody somewhere will be tempted enough to look it up.

  District Assembly eating rules....

  during our district assembly which will be held at a coliseum, we were told not to go outside during the intermission, and not eat in restaurants near by.

  we were told to bring our own food and eat inside the coliseum.

  usually, the coliseum offers hot dogs and hamburgers and drinks, but the brothers refused this service.. .

  Yeah,same baloney at our conventions.Then the restaurant next door is packed,the Subway at the end of the street can't keep up at lunchtime and many cars leave the parking lot at lunchtime.

  I'll be there this year and the only enjoyment I'll get is observing as an outsider how people react to the instructions from the platform(LOL).I feel many jw's are just fed of being treated like little children and then the WTS wants all the credit.

  Let's not forget,if the JW's are the religion who fought the hardest for freedom of conscience,they are now the religion who does the most to suppress it and start right within their own ranks.
