a few years ago, the organization seemed to be drifting towards reason.
the knowledge book downplayed holidays and blood.. witness kids were told they could go to college.
the new worship book - as a re-edited "united" book - removed all mention of.
Another great analysis Met.
I'll summarize it in 2 words,
...slowly imploding...

i was actually baptized in my early 20's, so i spent some time as a teen and early twenties doing things that were not witness-like.
one of those things was sex out of marriage and to be honest, i have no regrets.
i have wondered though sometimes, where is that person i shared such a landmark moment with in life.
No,don't have a clue.
well, 2005 is drawing to a close, and that means its time for another edition of sng's annual report.. i have quite arbitrarily decided that our jwd year ends on december 15, and using the member directory, i have extracted a few statistics.
this past year, 4973 new members signed up for a new total of 21081 members, or a 30.9% increase.
our increase of 4973 breaks down to about 414 new members per month, or (using the society's published average of 65 publishers per congregation) approximately 6.4 congregations a month!
Good work SNG. I believe that less than 10% of people who leave the jw's end up signing here.Goes to show that a lot of people are walking away from the Tower.

in a previous post by joker10, he states positive things for the watchtower empire.
we know that the stats are fake, especially those numbers of anointed remnant.

I've been saying that for years Gary. You're recognized as a JW by your service report, not your baptism. That's why I can say I stopped being a jw 6 1/2 years ago when I stopped filling out a service report.

please post your christmas and new year messages here so that we can keep them altogether:
merry christmas & a happy new year to everyone on jwd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Holidays!
metatron used that expression on a thread.
what evidence do you have that the "organization" "just "doesn't get it"??
?
To me it's their extremely high level of delusional denial.
Even if they can't prove a jw teaching from the bible,it's still the truth to them.
Rather than do their own research, they'd rather "wait on Jehovah",like that's a blanket answer for questions they'd rather not deal with.
And yes,the severe lack of genuine love has to rank up there in the top 1 or 2 reasons.

ok guys, i've been contemplating the world of the jws - which isn't an especially good idea because the more you think about it, the less sense it makes - and the whole "we don't do anything pagan" thing is really getting to me, just because it's so hypocritical.. so what i'm looking for is this - a list of any and all pagan practices that are just fine, according to wts rules and regulations.
anything big or small that's not banned by the wts but clearly has pagan origins.. and to make myself clear, i'm not looking to argue, i'm not looking to irritate any of the jws we have lurking around here (sweetscholar comes to mind), i'm just looking for a list, plain and simple.. let me start:.

i've got a couple older "sisters" that come around and call on me trying to share a scripture.
first visit since i moved.
i'm ready to bring up some real watchtower dirt and curious to see how their going to react.
Have some fun for a while but rest assured after a few questions they can't answer, they won't be coming back.Ask them something and tell them to show you from the bible...
Where does the bible say that God has an organization and uses a governing body to direct it?
Goldminer
at first i wasn't going to post this but i noticed a lot of people here have been getting visits from elders lately, all with pretty much the same results.. three months ago,my wife asked an elder if he could answer some of my questions.he offered to come over, which he did,to waste my time talking in circles to basic questions he couldn't answer from the bible.(i.e.
where does the bible say god has an organization and uses a governing body to direct it?
) anyways, after 3 hours of proving his allegiance tot the wts and showing me his level of denial he said he would do more research on my questions and get back to me.one main question that night had been 607 bce.. last week he made arrangements with my wife to return with another elder.that day i decided, based on advice i got here, that i would not use any research notes, only the bible as final authority(unless we got into 607 since you need secular history to support dates).the discussion started on god's organization, and being that i'm not very good at these type of debates,it basically went in circles with one elder getting upset that i didn't believe that god has a visible organization.he kept asking me well, which religion has the truth then?
Yes,it has occured to me that they've talked to my wife about my questions and research which they seem to think all came from the internet. Not scripturally answering any questions doesn't prove they are God's organization,it just proves the opposite.
Also,my wife has suffered from mental illness the last few years and she's been diagnosed as suffering from some form of depression( I can't remember which one-maybe the jw one).I believe they might be lenient with me on account of that because df'ing me might send her over the edge and she might turn on the religion. This way they had least still have one.The sad part is my little boy will be stuck in the middle and it will just lead to more problems.
Anyways,I'm not giving up on my wife.I'll keep trying to find a way to show her she doesn't need the WTS for salvation. As for the elders,I've always been respectful to them but from now on I'll be more rude if they ever try to push their non-biblical thinking on me.
