risking my life, driving to meeting where there are going to be about 60 old people driving their cars is too dangerous for me. can't do it.

Hoping The Meeting is Cancelled
by roybatty ini'm sitting here at home in front the fire place, looking outside watching watching the snow fall.
not a blizzard but a pretty good snow fall for north-central illinois.
it feels great being at home on an evening like this, relaxing.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses becoming a brand name?
by truthseeker inever since the society split into 3 corporations back in october 2000, it seems to me that the phrase "published by jehovah's witnesses" is appearing on almost every publication they produce, as opposed to the old "watchtower bible & tract society of pennsylvania".
last week, i was looking on the back of the new "learn from the great teacher" cd folder.
it suddenly occured to me, that this religion really is a business.

Is the WTs God's chosen or a phoney? PROVE IT!

few things.
#1 jesus said his yoke is easy, and his load is light
#2 in the book of matthew it has something about bad fruits
#3 self-proclaimin bastards
#4 double standards
that is a good point that if rank and files wanted to be part of the UN or, for that matter, work somewhere in the United States at a government office, the RandF would be disfellowshipped immediately, but when the GB joins the UN, its not bad....?????

"Immortal Soul" - A Watchtower Doctrine!
by Stephanus inin my 25 years or so in "christendom" i've been to many different churches in different denominations and have heard hundreds, perhaps thousands, of sermons.
in all that time i have never heard the term "immortal soul" used, not even once.
yet the jws go on (and on, and on!

Steph,
"continue working out your salvation"
Seems to be exclusive to Jw speak/doctrine.
heh, i like this verse because a lot of JW's here use it to justify working for their salvation, but what they don't get is that, in context this verse says that god is working from within us, but dubbys use it to say that we need to work FOR and not work OUT...so ya

I was a good kid because I was raised by Bible Principles
by Nosferatu insometimes when i go visit my mother, she mentions that i was a good kid because i was raised by bible principles.
i was crying for absolutely no reason at all.
around 11:30, i felt completely ill. i went up to my teacher and told him i was going to see the nurse.

i was told that too once and awhile, but i knew it was bullshiz. i just didn't want to piss anyone off because i was too small to stand up for myself, and because i didn't really know how until i graduated high school... if scaring the piss out of your kids is bible principle, then i must have been disciplined by bible principle because the elders and whatnot sure do know how to scare the piss out of kids (and even teenagers).

thats another thing that got me. i've always viewed JW's as a bunch of self-righteous over-arrogant group of people. i always thought that they did a terrible job of preidcting the future too because i lived through 1994 (when the "generation" would see the conclusion of the system of things) =D i'm still here, they're still boasting.
"we're in here because we aren't all there" =D

Fart, Fart
by GinnyTosken inthe buddhists say there are eight winds.
they are gain and loss, praise and ridicule, credit and blame, and suffering and joy.
if you aren't aware of them, they will blow you away like dry leaves in an autumn breeze.

1914 + 120 = 2034?
by Cameron in.
has anyone heard (or seen) any comments from witnesses about the december 15, 2003 watchtower that seems to be to be pointing to 2034 as possible date for the end of this system of things?

not just 607 is wrong, but the whole way they get to 1914 is wrong. they use daniel chapter 4 which i think is inaccurate, and you can't even calculate the coming of Christ until it happens. its kinda like predicting the future ya know....
