Ex-JW Newsletter?...
by Tuesday ini got an e-mail asking me if i wanted to get it so i said what the hell and got it.
it's not too bad, i was expecting the usual "pity me" stuff, but in truth the stories were interesting as they were just the normal "i left because i wanted to" stories and not the absolute horror stories out there.
just a curiosity question.

This is for ones not born in the truth
by vitty inhow long did it take for you to revert back to your old ways of thinking, reasoning and attitudes from before you were a witnes .
eg i lived with my husband before we got married, then learned it was wrong.
now i see so many witness getting married too young (cos they want sex) that i dont think its such a bad idea.

I’m still in the Org. If I left I wouldn’t change what I do very much. Becoming a JW probably saved me from a life of debauchery and an early death (lung cancer, etc.). No longer accepting the WTS to be God’s organization does not mean one abandons faith in God or wants to live a Biblically immoral life.

Elders & Circuit Overseer Get Caught In A BIG Lie!
by minimus inmy mom has lost her zeal.
she has understood that the "brothers" are nothing special.
they are mere men.

I don’t think that the reason they are telling everyone MiniMom stepped down has any thing to do with showing her the respect she deserves. They remove Mini’s mom because she acted on her own conscience and not some ridiculous WTS rule (40 years of Pioneer service meant nothing). They are lying about why she is no longer a pioneer because the truth makes the WTS look like the controlling and mean spirited organization it often is. All this IMOHO.

Jw view please
by A Paduan in.
if your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out
what does this mean to jws ?
-
FairMind
This means that we must avoid practicing sins that will cost us everlasting life. Certain sins can become practices that are extremely difficult to stop. These might be things like drunkenness, drugs, fornication, lying, stealing, slandering, etc. No matter how difficult it might be to break clean from these things it is worth it because it means our everlasting life.

Do Jehovah's Witnesses keep records on people?
by inquirer ini have known some people (i dont' know if it's true or not) [and i am the kind of person that doesn't like to cause trouble] who have said that jehovah's witnesses keep tabs/records on people.
all the things they have done like if they got babtized, personal problems/experiences, arguments they may had with people, and just their general conduct as well.
have any people here found out about a "black book" where they keep records on you?

I was inactive and did not attend meetings for several years. When returning I was asked to write a history of what I had been doing during those years which I stupidly did. Later I experienced difficulties with a pharisaical elder and was advised by a “friend” elder to write the Society an to be sure to mention the pharisaical elder by name laying bare all his faults, which again I stupidly did. All of my writings (including others besides those mentioned) are on record and used against me to this day. It’s OK though because not being used in the congregation means I have time to do things I really like, such as visiting this website.

Not Too Bad A Cult.... In Comparison To Others. Let's Talk About Cults.
by Doubtfully Yours ini saw an episode of a day talk show the other day in which they interviewed these two women that were part of a polygamous cult in utah.
the cult was referred to as 'the order'.. men married many young wives, and these were expected/forced to breed in large numbers.
these women worked for the cult.

Jw view of resurrection: will it be you who is resurrected???
by chuckyy ini have always had a problem even when a jw with the wtbs view on the bodily resurrection.
if your body is destroyed following death, and there is no soul, what then is being resurrected???.
?.....its a new body and only a recording of your thoughts that was in gods memory that is put into this new body......how can it truly be the same person???

I agree that to us mere mortals it seems incomprehensible that we might totally cease to exist (except in God’s memory) when we die and it still really is us if and when resurrected. There are many things about God and how he does things that we are incapable of understanding. For example, many people wonder where in our universe God resides? The answer to me is obvious. God is not in our universe since he created the universe. Wherever God is it is outside our space/time continuum, not physical and therefore something we are incapable of understanding.

I read ISOCF about a year ago. I liked COC much better as it exposed the WTS’ hypocrisy and arrogance. ISOCF was interesting but it just did hold my interest as well as COC.

What does God expect us to ask for in prayer?
by JH injesus said to pray continuously.
i don' pray anymore because nothing happens no matter what i ask.
ask for money, you won't get it because everyone wants money and it displeases god.. .

I pray for help with personal problems and concerns as well as praying for others. Some of my prayers, seemingly been answered. Mostly though my prayers to God are to resolve emotional and mental conflicts within my soul and if these things occur then my prayer has been effective. I really do believe that God hears prayer and sometimes answers them.
