What do we have to do to get Gods' Attention

this is *if* you believe in god / a god / gods.

there are moments when i sit down and have a conversation, almost with myself, because even though i am looking up at the heavens/searching my soul, there is no answer, no supernatural feeling, it is quiet and still, but i speak the words just in case there is something listening.. if there is a god and he is all that he claims to be through all the religions on this earth, why doesn't he rule us as a god should?

why doesn't he come on down and sort out this world?

What do we have to do to get Gods' Attention?

Stop looking for what we think "God" is in old books. Any label we create as "God" is not the great reality of the universe, it is just our tiny label.

I believe that what we try to call "God" is the universe/multiverse becoming aware of itself, possibly through us and other life forms.

All the old dusty books that point to "God" could be looked at as pointing to an universal autoimune disorder in reality/awareness. But that would imply that reailty is a disease or a mistake, and I don't believe that. I believe that in the struggle to achieve awarness, having obstacles or resistance can make us stronger or force us to evolve, but a great many will die along the way.

did anyone resist getting baptized?

starting at the age of 12 my parents were pressuring me to get dunked, it started when i came home from school one day and there was a young dub waiting to study with me, he tried for a few months till it became obvious he was more interested in my sister than getting me in that pool.

another attempt was made when i was in the 8th grade, i was walking home from school and a pick up truck pulled over right in front of me and there was another young jehovie, he told me to get in the car, i told him no, and he said that if i didnt get in i would be in big trouble with my parents, reluctantly i got in, he proceeded to take me around town to a few of my friends(worldly) homes and started telling me that these people were all going to die, and that if i wanted to die with them.

My younger brother. This was right after my dad moved out but before the divorce. My dad knew that my mom was hot to get the elders to set up someone to study with my younger brother. So dad spoke with him on one of his weekends and told him that he could do what he wanted to, but that if he didn't want to speak with anybody, he didn't have to. He also told him that if they came over to talk, and wouldn't leave then to call the police. So, one day after this -abot a week or two- two elders come over to the house to talk with my brother, he doesn't let them in the house -he was home alone- one of the elders got mouthy and my brother told him to leave or he'd call the police. I wish that I'd known about this at the time, it might have helped me get out sooner even though I was already baptized. I was working every day after school so that's how I missed this.

They may have you for the moment on their video clip, but I don't think its really a win for them. They're just trying any stupid little thing they can.

You could reply back along the line of asking them if the WTS has changed its stance on Homosexuality? (We know, but do they?) That -the producer?- was raised JW, but never baptized and is now a "Known homosexual". This is the same basic hypocrisy that they showed with the UN: being linked with people that they condem.

I'm not worried for you, you're pretty clever, and I'm kinda curious how you'll respond to them tactically.

Elders want to visit after memorial !!

well, i attended the memorial last night, and since i have been inactive for some time two of the elders came up to me afterwards.

they want to get together and discuss how to get me active again.

since i am going thru some withdrawal pains, i spinelessly agreed to talk with them this friday evening.

If you do choose to meet with them, would having the meeting in a public place make it less in their favor? Say a starbucks? That way they are not in your home -your space- and it is also not a place that they may prefer. If they had to meet with you in public, the heavy handed control tactics may not have an oportunity to be unleashed.

Just a thought.

Scariest Movie you have ever seen?

i know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.

like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.

anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

I had a hard time getting through Signs the first time. I still can't whatch The Ring. (That's the one with the video you shouldn't whatch right or you get killed?)

Who lets it be known that they were once a JW?

i am curious, for those of us here who have left the jw org, who actually lets it be known to people that they were once a practicing jw.. for me, this is something i tend to keep quiet because it is something i'm not particularly proud of.

anyone else feel the same way?.

I used to quite often, but I am trying to identify less as an exJW and more as just a person. But I do still tell people if the conversation naturally goes there. When I was little and not a JW I got two sets of presents-my BD is Jan 2nd. My great grandmother's was the 24th of December. Capricorns rule!
