No nu-lite needed. Just quit counting. I'm surprised they haven't already done that. Cite the example of David when he wasn't supposed to count his army. (I might be wrong about it being David or an army. But someone in the bible wasn't supposed to count something) -

1. Make just a smidgen of progress in helping my wife to wake up
2. Become a better husband ( I think I'm already a really good father)
3. Lose more than a few lbs
4. Pick up a hobby.

Surprise ! Surprise ! 2015 Arrives and NO Armageddon or World's " End " - Go Figure
by flipper ini guess 99.9 % of ex-jw's here could have predicted as much .
armageddon didn't happen in 1914. it didn't happen in 1925. it didn't happen in 1975. and it did not happen in 2014. since the wt society first predicted a world's end when their organization started in 1879 - 126 years have passed which according to any dictionary in any human language 126 years comprises of 4 separate generations each totaling 30 years each.
plus 6 years into a 5th generation.

Great post flipper. I didn't live thru "stay alive till 75". But it sounds like it was exciting times in jw land. Stuff is pretty stale now. At least in my area it is. Mostly older folks hoping to see the big A before they die.

I knew the forum wouldn't let me down! That was a lot of great advice. Thanks! Getting alchohol out of my house seems like a good first step. I will do that.
Digeridoo. Am I an alchoholic. That is a question that I have thought a lot about. And I really don't know the answer. I definitly share some of the traits though. I suppose that if I am then really truly admitting that to myself is an important First step. That is a difficult thing to come to terms with.
Billy. I agree with you. Getting in good shape is a great goal to put as my objective. Booze always destroys my workout routine.
Breakfast. It sounds like we are much the same. Thanks for sharing.
JeffT. Congrats on your success. I have always been a little turned off of AA due to its religious nature. But I also know that it can be successfull.
Lisa. I really don't know how to meditate like that. It sounds interesting though.

As I continue my sllllooooooowwwwwww fade one of the things that I want to do is better myself as a person. One of my biggest pitfalls has always been drinking. I don't think I am an alcoholic but at the same time I've never been a very good drinker. If I start to drink I usually will drink enough so that I feel rough the next day. I will usually only drink on Friday and Saturday but then I will feel rough on Saturday and Sunday. I'm tired of not using my weekends to the full. Quitting would also help me to lose weight. I need to drop about 35 lbs. I also have 2 little kids and as they get older I don't want them to view there dad as "a drinker". I have tried to be "moderate in my drinking" for 20 years now and so far it hasn't worked. I know there is a lot of wisdom packed into this site and any practical advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

every meeting there's a new plea for money?!
by purrpurr inwow!
i haven't been here for a while and everything's changed!.
anyway i've been really noticing how at every meeting it seems there's yet another new thing that needs funding or another reminder to donate.

Kaik, How does anyone know how much your mom donates? I have never heard of a hall where the donations weren't voluntary and secret. -

Men are not looking forward to becoming Elders or Ministerial Servants
by Hidden-Window ini have noticed an apparently increasing number of men who are not interested in becoming ministerial servants or elders.
i also know of some that have voluntarily stepped down (which is my case) for no obvious solid reason.. i remember, during my teenage years or even during my twenties, the brothers were always looking forward to being appointed... although many still do, i have noticed there are many others with whom you do not know what the deal is.. since there is no freedom of speech within the organization, we remain in the dark about the motives and desires of everybody else.
i attend a congregation with only two ministerial servants, while it is full of men who do not seem to be willing to do more.. it is hard to tell exactly what is going on, since honesty is not possible while you are inside, but i am starting to think that more and more are becoming disillusioned.... .

Very few family men (wife and kids) are reaching out for elder hood. I see alot of them appointed as servants though. If the Borg wants to stay strong it desperately needs these family men to become elders.

Campaign to Israel
by humanperson ini have been wanting to introduce myself but i don't know where to begin.
my husband and i are enjoying our third guilt-free weekend of our lives (both born-in, almost 30).
he has been out mentally for the last year and a half but patiently waited for me to come around.

I know there was a letter read about this in the past year but since then I haven't heard any witnesses at my hall discussing it. Not even a peep.

From 1 to 10, how do you rate the value of the Internet in your awakening?
by Hidden-Window inas we all know, the internet is a real game-changer in allowing us to know the truth about the watch tower and its history.
i always had doubts and it was the internet that presented me with the ever-growing number of individuals who were going through a similar struggle.. i give the internet a 9 in my awakening.
what about you?.

Governing Body at Bethel and their daily routine
by Tenacious ini never had the privilege to serve at bethel .. therefore, community help is greatly appreciated friends.. do the gb members have their own living quarters separate from the average jw?.
does their "busy" schedule permit field service, if yes, how many hours a month?.
how long are their weekly wednesday meetings?.

I don't believe they have money. They probably don't care about that. What they have is POWER. Looking from the outside this generation of GB seems to be lording their power over the flock more than past generations. Some of them are probably truly genuine and nice people. Just clueless. Others are probably total pricks.
