What was the point of shooting someone in the head seven times isn't one bullet there enough to kill him? That was really over zealous, will they now at least pay some compensation to the victim's family?
Police shoot suspect....................er why?

Seems to me that they released evidence as it was available, and as it became clear that he was nothing to do with terrorism they fessed up.
Doesn't help the situation much, but they deserve at least "some" credit for candor and the apologies that were immediately forthcoming.
it is good that they came clean.......but they had no alternative here. if he had been a young asian from Bradford (and nothing to do with anything) i think they would have kept quiet. But wtf was going on? Was he ID'd as a bomber or not? What substantive intel did they have that he was directly related to the bombings? Or do they just say stuff to keep us happy?

No, they only come clean when the truth is found out and they have no option. If you don't challenge things then you don't get the truth.
If we all sat back saying "well, I'm sure whetever they did was the right thing" then we would still have the story that the guy was a bomber, the police are heros, WoMD exist in Iraq and Bush/Blair are honest guys who want to make the world a better place.

That's a lot of lead and adrenaline!
At a target range at Xmas I unloaded a clip of 10 rounds in about a second, from a semi-auto Glock.
In this day and age people DO challenge things, and rightly so. The truth is a little more likely to come out as the media covers bystanders' comments.
In days of yore an English Knight would happily strike dead a peasant with barely a second glance, far less what they used to do with the Scots...
..IMHO things have improved a tad.

There is no point unless you've been given a gun but lost the plot.

It was excessive use of force one can say, it shows fury more than anything else.

It could have been worse. The cop could have reloaded and fired off a second clip. Alternatively his mates could have joined in for jollies. The guy should count himself lucky that they weren't seriously out to get him! At least they were able to identify him from his dental records!
What was so urgent about installing that smoke detector, anyhow? We all know there's no smoke without "FIRE!!!"
Ooops - overrode my sensibility chip, again

"You can't get away from the fact that initially the anouncement was that they had killed one of the 4 bombers .... When they find out he was not one of the bombers they said he was directly connected to the bombings."
Actually I was reading reports on the shooting very closely in the day or two after it, and I recall no such statements. I'm not saying it wasn't made, since I was reading things online from the US and didn't see everything, nor what was being shown on TV over there.
No shortage of speculation based on witness accounts, of course, and as usual. -

LT, that was quite alarming!
