When I'm in charge all you people on my list will be rounded up. You know who you are ... it's no good looking innocent now.

Funny how the bravado of "Bring em on" that George W said just months ago about the terrorists really isn't all that funny, nor brave, to all the families affected by these train bombings.

    Catch up people!!!

It's no longer a 'War on Terror', the white house administration has changed all the statements to a 'Struggle against violent extremists.'

Well, I think Rumsfeld et al fit the description - they are extremists and have unleashed more violence than anyone.

Simon, will you at least let us know when you are "coming to get" us so that we have a chance to make sure we are wearing clean underpants?

That seemed to be a sole focus of our mothers, "Make sure you are wearing clean undies in case you get in an accident" so it must have been important...

Englishman. I expected better. You are now resorting to personal attacks ... anything to divert attention and focus away from your (non) argument I guess?

Now now..there's no personal attack here, just some gentle criticism of your priorities. I'm also being quite reasonable about your insistence that I imagine one of my sons being shot dead. I think that you should apologise for that.

It is YOU who is determined to ignore other people's suffering. How dare you suggest that it is me that is doing that. YOU are the one that is excusing an innocent death. Who is his death different to the deaths of those on the train?

His death IS different. He had warnings aplenty which he chose to ignore. The 50+ had none.

I suggest you appologise because I have not ignored the 50+ people who died two weeks ago. I don't have to demonstrate that or mention them in every post though and it is not what this topic is about is it?

I'm always willing to apologise when I'm convinced that I've made a mistake. And no..I'm not totting up posts either. I wish you'd calm down a bit when you get into these discussions. Englishman.

    Dresden was an outrage........

Also remember the Yalta Agreement where Churchill, Roosevelt forced 100,000's of 'liberated' people back to countries they had fled and to certain death/torture. That was a tragedy that our leaders were not upto dealing with.

    Some more questions raised ...

Scotland Yard commissioner Sir Ian Blair told British TV that since British subways were first attacked by suicide bombers on July 7, police have recorded 250 potential suicide-bomb threats; in seven of those cases, he indicated, police came close to the point where a shoot-or-not decision had to be made. But when British authorities moved last week to arrest suspects in the failed July 21 bombings, they managed to apprehend them with minimum firepower.

Even some Israeli experts are puzzled by the British bobbies' aggressive practices. Jonathan Fighel, a terrorism expert and former Israeli Army colonel, says the shoot-in-the-head policy used by Scotland Yard was "not connected with any tactic in Israel." He said Israeli guidelines for confronting suicide bombers are to first order the suspected bomber to lie on the ground—so if he has explosives, some will go off below him—or ask him to take off his shirt

Why? All I am asking for is some understanding and empathy for the family concerned. I am not saying your sons "should be shot" or "wouldn't it be good if they were shot". Just to think about how YOU would feel and not be so dismissive of another family's tradgedy because of the failure of the authorities.

His death IS different. He had warnings aplenty which he chose to ignore. The 50+ had none.

Erm ... isn't it clear by now that he had no warning? The police did not identify themselves and all he knew was that he was afraid and being chaised by a gang of men? It was a major fuck-up by the keystone cops.

Again, what happened to the 50+ people is a tradgedy but how does it in any way excuse the unlawful killing of others?

I'm always willing to apologise when I'm convinced that I've made a mistake. And no..I'm not totting up posts either. I wish you'd calm down a bit when you get into these discussions.

Ah, another diversion to distract attention from your non argument? You really should try sticking to the point ... but then I can see why you want to discuss *anything but*.

There was a rumor going around that it was not the police but the SAS/SBS - anymore news on this?
