  At least seven of Jehovah’s Witnesses were subjected to torture—electric shocks, suffocation, and cruel beatings—on the first floor of the Russian Investigative Committee’s building at ul. Ostrovskogo, d. 47, in Surgut. While being tortured, officers interrogated the Witnesses, demanding to know: “Where are meetings of Jehovah’s Witnesses held? Who attends the meetings? What are the elders’ last names? What is your mobile phone password?”

  
  On February 15, 2019, mass searches in Surgut started in the early morning hours. Worshippers were taken to the Investigative Committee offices. Investigators began interrogating the Witnesses, who refused to disclose details about their fellow worshippers. After the only legal representative in the room left, victims report that the following occurred: agents put a bag over the victims’ heads, sealed it with tape, tied their hands behind their backs, and beat them. Then, after stripping the Witnesses naked and dousing them with water, the agents shocked them with stun guns. This sadistic torture lasted for about two hours.

  Torture has never really persuaded the heart of a zealot. It only creates martyrs. How is it that the Russians can be so fucking stupid? This will only cause most citizens of the world to think less and less of them.

  This won't stop the JW's, it will just prove in their minds that they are correct, and make them more determined. It might even cause a few who weren't thinking about becoming one, that hey they are being persecuted, only to make their words stronger. It would be much better to prove to them that what they believe in is wrong. There is a saying you can collect more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.

  They must be utterly inept as they would have all that information in one file or another.

  It sounds like torture for the sake of it.

  If the Russians have a beef with the wt then take it up with the GB.

  I CALL NOW ON THE GB TO OFFER THE RUSSIAN GOVT TO REPATRIATE ALL MEMBERS OF THE JW FAITH OUT OF RUSSIA TO SAFE COUNTRIES..

  This is just plain evil! But with that being said. I thought Babylon the great fell in 1919 where they would no longer have a hold on gods people? It's the Russian Orthodox church behind this. And I thought the govts were supposed to come after the witnesses last? If the gb had any guts they would fly to Russia. And notify all media outlets and demand to meet with Russia officials!

  No......the JW's need not be stopped they simply need to be ignored.

  And no they don't deserve this treatment or any additional harassment they will be subjected to.

  This is an appalling lapse of judgement by Putin and his co-conspirator the Russian Orthodox Church.......... it calls for a protest with some teeth.

  Regardless of our personal feelings about the WTBTS and their followers......no one on this forum would support this kind of brutal treatment because of the simple beliefs JW's hold dearly.
  

  What I also find disturbing is the lack of a real effort by the WTBTS to get targeted Brothers and Sisters to safety and then out of the country.

  But obviously the WT doesn't see it that way. They have a different historic policy.

  Back in the 1930's the WTBTS pretty much abandoned their 'Bible students'. to the Third Reich. Half signed an agreement to support the government.

  Though Rutherford and company made a really really big effort to save their property and printing presses.....failing to do so...... they abandoned the 'friends'.

  Once again the WTBTS will do little to nothing but trust in Jah.
