I remember one in my congregation. The sister was a well loved pioneer I have to say she was a lovely person. She had a way about her that brought many into the 'truth'. In the 70's she found she had uterine cancer, usually a killer disease. The doctors told her she had about 6 months left to live. She survived and lived for several more decades. She told me that wen she left the hospital one of the other patients had asked her who the man was that sat by her bed every night. Of course there was no 'man'. She was convinced it was an angel. I'd always liked that story but of course these days I'm very sceptical! I'm happy that she lived longer though, she was a lovely lady.

I remember a heartwarming assembly experience as a kid where some JW's were smuggling a carload of watchtower literature over a border into a communist country where the preaching work was "under ban". Apparently they were stopped by the authorities who were searching through all the cars that came over the border. When the trunk of their car was opened, the border guard looked in and saw nothing even though the trunk was full of colorful Watchtower publications. He closed the lid of the trunk and sent them on their way.

The claim was that Jehovah's holy spirit caused the guars eyes to be "unseeing" so that his message could be brought into this communist country. There was a resounding round of applause from the audience.

Now we realize that the "Truths" contained in those books has long since been considered to be incorrect and was later discontinued and has been replaced many times over with literature containing "new light".

It seems that the owner of the car placed himself in great jeopardy just to bring books full of misinformation across the border (if it even happened at all)

Has anyone mentioned this one yet? Sorry haven't read everything.

It was at a convention, never knew if it was true or not.

The man that was very ill in hospital and could see from his bed in the ward, a bird making a nest outside in a tree and he watched it and watched it and then when the chicks had fledged he asked if someone might go and get him the empty nest and when they did he looked at it and it has a piece of a tract inside it with the WT name and address. Said something like 'for further information...'

They said it was a true story but I never knew if it was or not.

There was the story going around in the early 1970s about a Ouija board being asked what was going to happen in 1975. According to that urban legend, the Ouija board then promptly disintegrated!

the most ridiculous was the Japanese Yakuza gang leader who ordered a hit to kill his own daughter because she would not follow him into a life of crime, he repented and became an elder, yes of course he did, who would disbelieve that? its highly credible

    YES!

Wow...so many of those "experiences" you have all listed sound so familiar.

It really shows the stupidity of JWs who perpetuate such myths.

Reminds me of this great speech by Seth Andrews.

Seems all fundamental christian groups fell victim to this stuff!

    Have these already been mentioned:

The sister who went to a worldly party and somone infected her with HIV from a needle. So don’t socialise with worldly people because that’s what can happen.

In various scenarios JWs in conversation with a demonic person. The demonic person says: God killed our children in the flood. (The nephilim) So we are going to turn as many JW children away from the truth and get them killed at Armageddon.

Sister bought an item second hand from charity shop and was plagued with demons until she got rid of it again.

The HIV needle thing reminded me that I heard that one.

The story was that loads of JW kids had a huge beach party, it got out of hand.... alcohol, drugs, sex, 90’s club bangers....lol.... condoms were passed around and things got nasty ..... including people going around injecting HIV to those in attendance. Elders wives were passing this garbage on! It would have been on the news at Ten had it happened!
