Actually Trauma Hound, What we would do and what we did do 200 years ago was get rid of the oppressor ourselves. We didn't need anyone else to come liberate us like the Iraqis do. We do not tolerate dictators in our country. We fight people who try to kill our families. The worse it gets the more we fight. These people have already shown that they don't have what it takes to get rid of a man they don't want. They are too afraid to make the sacrifices. Oh yeah, they're ready to run a suicide mission but they aren't willing to risk the death of their loved ones for the freedom of their countrymen. Some Iraqis do see the Coalition as an invading enemy. Yeah......And..... Some here in the US beleive there was no holocaust.

What you will find, when the dust clears, is a secretly grateful yet spineless population.

I didn't say sqaut to you, idiot.

You can't spell "squat." Appropriate, since most of your opinions involve squatting and intestinal convulsions. I don't know how they spell it in your coffee-house socialist meetings, but in America we spell it "squat."

Abaddon: I have no trouble with balanced viewpoints. However, when some, because of an underlying agenda, take a fact here, and a fact there, to try to paint the worse possible agenda, then I will speak out. What is wrong to ask for balance and context? No one on the US side wants to kill civilians. However, your claim only offers a false choice. In every war, innocents are involved. Using your reasoning, Hitler should have remained in power. I disagree.

not if i was basically being forced to fight for a murderous dictator, no. you cant compare our homeland with the homeland of the iraqis.....apples and oranges.

Yes it is like comparing apples with oranges or comparing Christians with Muslims. We begin to comprehend what those people are feeling. Objectively speaking, reports show that even though some of the Kurds and Shiites are happy to see the end of Saddams government, they still do not want a foreign power putting in leaders that will dictate to them. They want to be able to choose there own form of government. Why isn't this what democracy is all about? For the US to do otherwise comes across to these foreigners as arrogant and self-serving.

Wooo, I'm a socialist. Actually dipf^&%, I don't drink coffee, I'm not a socialist. Liberal, lefty, coward, and now socialist. Tell you what, come to Seattle you dipf&*^'s, and get into a ring with me, for a UTF style bout, and we'll see who taps out first.

Did I mention charming with an ingratiating online personality and a flair for poignant, powerful script? I didn't? Why not, I wonder?

How did I know you lived in Seattle? Blackblock wannabe!

Tell you what, come to Seattle you dipf&*^'s, and get into a ring with me, for a UTF style bout, and we'll see who taps out first

A UTF style fight? Weren't you the peacenik hippie type just a second ago? Anyway, it sounds like fun. We could set up an apostafest event surrounding it, sell tickets, maybe some of your chai crap in the stands. Hoo ah! I can see it now, the lights, the crowd, the sight of your broken battered body being dragged away as your feeble voice threatens legal action from what remains of your larynx. Oh yeah, even though you cowardly deleted all of that thread, I remember that little incident!

Rent the ring, set the date, preferably for the end of summer so I'll look good in my spandex suit, and I'll be on the next flight for Seattle!

ThiChi; I think you do have a problem with balanced viewpoints, and I think just as you speaking of a armchair generals is a good case of cooking impliments discussing relative degrees or carbonisation, so to is your accusations of underlying agendas. You seem to regard the campaign 'Enduring Freedom' more in the lights of 'Utter Absolution'.

I know that "No one on the US side wants to kill civilians" is a reasonable statement, what I don't see as reasonable is the lack of people saying, "that was a terrible mistake, how tragic, the troops goofed, what can be done to prevent civilian casualties like this happening"?

Everyone is so eager to say, hey, it's a war... civilians die, get over it. War is dehumanising enough to those on the front line, without those watching on TV shrugging glibly when children are decapitated by 50mm cannon shells and talking of a price you can bet they wouldn' want to pay for the greater good.

    I can't and I won't 'get over it'. Oh, and your statement;

Using your reasoning, Hitler should have remained in power

... is a great example of your balance. Asking what ratio of coalition to civilian deaths is justifiable just cuts away the reams of bull that people come up with to ignore the blood of babies. I'm not saying 'stop the war' now the damn thing has started, I've always thought that this war was inevitable, but that the US were being illegally and unduely hasty. You allege in the above that saying mistakes should be owned up to and that the number of civilains dying should be kept to a minimum would have kept Hitler in power.

Yeah, and you're balanced. The very fact you are willing to make an ridiculous linkage to waht I say and Hitler just shows how far you are prepared to go in justification.

    Sleep well at night...
