On another thought, this dude obviously is trying to appeal to doubting JWs who may be reading this.
Most of them don't want to believe they've spent YEARS serving a man-made organization.

I'm sorry for going down a sarcastic path with you earlier about the RCC etc. I feel that perhaps I set you off with that, and I agree that that approach was counterproductive to having an intelligent conversation.
You are asking me to swallow everything I see on silentlambs whole without any sort of reasoned approach, or without offering my input on ways it could be improved, which is just as dangerous in my estimation as what the gb asks.
Please respond when you have the desire to discuss this topic reasonably.

My thoughts about this "discussion".
There is a differnence between spoken word and written word.
This post, supposedly reporting words from the platform, delivered by one of the glorious ones, gilead grad, loving etc. is too pre-packaged, wrapped up in pretty red ribbons and handed over to us.
Nevertheless, the originator of these words, may have given someone a manuscript and they are posted here for our consumption, or he prepared the speech, written verbatim, and posted them here himself.
He may never have delivered them to a congregation. The words may be only what he would have like to have said.
If his position on child abuse is genuine, yet feels he can not publicly profess them, so he posts them here in an effort to create some positive answers to the problem, then even if his methods are clandestine, they are commendable.
Another possibility though is, this is just a Pulic Relations stunt, to white wash and and launder, to soothe and put to rest anxieties within the congregation. This is just another experience from the platform, using a hypothetical situation, to demonstate to all elders and congregations the procedure they wish to be followed.
Whatever, the motives, good or not so good, for this post, in the end
it will lead to the exposure of the crimes of child abuse.

My problem with this is: how do you know if they are actually rehabilitated? Just because THEY SAY they aren't molesting kids means nothing. I don't know what I expect the society to do, once a child molester is out of jail I suppose the only thing they can do is allow them to go in service w/ an escort. FS afterall is a nessasary part of being a JW. I just hate so many things about JWs. . .

the escort, imo, prevents nothing. you then have child molesters going door-to-door and writing down the specific addresses of every young boy and girl on the block in the little service book, escort or not.

This elder sounds sincere and I have certainly known wonderful sincere elders in all the congregations I have been in.
However, I have also known my share of conniving politically motivated elders that play the good ol boy network to the hilt.
Its relatively easy to figure out which elders are good and which ones are full of baloney. The trick is staying close to these elders so that they will be involved with any problems you and your family have.

All I was trying to say is that under no circumstances will the GB ban field service for anyone that's in "good standing". So mandating an escort is SOMETHING. Don't think for one second that I personally think this is okay. But what else can you honestly expect from them?

Is it my imagination, or does the Society have a hard time saying DATELINE? They keep referring to it as if it was a nonentity...some fly by night TV show. Something akin to EXJWs having the inability to utter the word JEHOVAH any more, in their eyes.
I dont believe for a nanno second that there was a single person who came forward after that "discussion" and oh by the way discussion means TWO WAY conversation, to question anything said by the high and might society. Didnt this elder just say when an elder TELLS you something you DONT question what he said??? Helllllooooooo.
If the elders in a congregation are given a letter saying that so and so is a potential, alleged, kinda sorta, maybe pedophile...and the CONGREGATION is not told...they have endangered not only every person in that new congregation, but every person in that congregations territory where that perp is still free to go door to door. Yeah, he has to be WITH somebody ....but you dont think a perp will make a mental note where some victim is home alone and come back AFTER service when he ISNT accompanied? These people are not ADVERTISING their activities. And if the congregations are STILL not reporting EVERY child molestation case to let the authorities handle it..then they are STILL harboring pedophiles. There are NO TWO WAYS ABOUT IT.
