    J-Dubbed - "...not from a full blown J-Dub Elder..."

Honestly, he's probably already on his way out (at least mentally), even if he doesn't fully realize it yet.

Even money says he's subconciously looking for confirmation of his doubts and concerns, and thusly confirmation that leaving may be genuinely justified.

Sorry you feel I have a "Tourette Syndrome"

There's no "feel" about it, you're spraying trash talk all over the forum for no reason. Have you any idea how much some of the people on here have suffered? Any idea at all? And yet you're one of the few people actually swearing and using juvenile insults. They're coping like adults, and you're not.

My whole family is tore apart by one J-Dub Club Bitch......So sorry if I may come across a little less "Cheery"

You don't like your daughter-in-law. We get it already. Guess what? Your son loves her or he wouldn't have married her. I don't care if you think she's a "devil" or a "bitch". I'm surprised you think any of what you're posting is acceptable.

My son didn't CHOOSE to join........................I'ts a BRAIN WASH/CULT. He's been pulled in. I guess you haven't figured that out yet.

Can you provide a citation of a psychology study to prove that brainwashing exists? Your son joined the religion in order to clean up his life, and maybe his wife-to-be also drew him in. I see no coercion there.

You should already know Simon is a Moderator.

Incorrect. He's the administrator. Normally admins use mods to manage the forum. I assume he still has a team of moderators, if they all haven't quit on him by now, and I was simply wishing out loud that I knew their names.

    J-Dubbed turn it down.......please.

Simon is the owner of this forum and it appears he has a short fuse these days with nonsense posts when it comes to trouble makers.

On this forum each of us has to decide when and how one makes a break from the JW's.

I was 19 or 20 when I realized it wasn't the truth when it came to the blood doctrine and Armageddon. Once I yanked those loose threads the whole ball unraveled but it still took me a couple of years. I was pioneering and the little congregation was made up of nice people and I felt that apart from those two doctrines it was still a Christian group.

It was also very different back in the mid 1960's hardly any DFing. I was able to discuss some issues I didn't agree with in private conversation like Transplants which were banned and the WT getting into married couples sex lives) but basically it wasn't a big problem to remain a JW but it was tedious and I wanted more out of life.

Eventually I told my wife That I was leaving but I'd respect her beliefs......she gave me a long look and said..........."I never told you this because I thought you were totally convinced it was the truth but I never thought it was".

The she said ..."close your mouth."

We moved within the month and since I was also the publisher's card servant (whatever we called it) our publishers cards got lost. Funny that.

The cult has gotten worse over the years they have become reckless with their believer's welfare and the WTBTS and their leading servants deserve no respect. People who are working themselves out do deserve our kindness and understanding.

Is it possible to not go off on a tangent, I would be interested in hearing a WT defender's response to the original question.

A very reasonable question, I might add.

Giordano - "...they have become reckless with their believer's welfare..."

Criminally so; all the more reason to get out of Dodge, IMO.

Thank you Apognophos and you also Giordano for bringing some balance and kindness to bear here.

I feel a lot of respect for the ONE Witness who tried to do what the thread is for and comment.

I hope he and others will not be scared off from posting.

J-DUBBED, yes. That's a different question though. Thanks.

joe134cd said (refering to JW's): He should feel free to voice his opinion with out fear of reprisals.
Sure. And I am hoping to help them out of the dark with these questions here.

Maybe So, I am hoping standard answers like the one you mention belong to those that are faithful followers that are not here on JWN and your pointing such an answer out may help lurkers to see how they have been thinking. Thanks.

committeechairman, you make some great points.
if the Governing Body took the stance that they were just trying to do their best to lead Jehovah's people and they realize they could be wrong from time to time and did not shun people who decided this isn't for them, and if they actually acknowledged error and humbly repented when they made mistakes, then it would lend tremendous credibility for them and it would make it so much easier to follow their lead. As it is, however, the control increases. You can now be disfellowshipped for what you read and nothing more ("abhorrent" pornography), even if it is not generally known that you view or look at this type of material. There are signs that the Governing Body might be leaning toward much tigher control. All of this concerns me gravely. I believe that having "holy spirit" to guide the organization simply means displaying its fruitage in the way that we deal with the flock, but that isn't the opinion of the Governing Body, apparently.

I have to say on that point that JW's are led to believe that their Governing Body members are imperfect humans who have to check their path for errors and that there is some big difference between "spirit directed" and "inspired" that means that God only reveals truth but doesn't automatically make them understand it. That way, past errors are excused as they change the doctrines, and even claim that proves even more that they are God's one true organization. But my problem with their reluctance to admit error until way afterward and the way they claim "the light is getting brighter" is that they try to make members accept that the doctrines may have been wrong in the past (or that the Governing Body was in error) but that today's doctrine is correct and today's Governing Body should not be questioned.

    Crazyhorse, thanks for the encouragement.

goingthroughthemotions, you are welcome to your thoughts and mine can be similar to yours. I do think your thoughts on this thread and those of others can help our active JW's.

westiebilly11, great echo on that thought.

    J-DUBBED, easy. Easy.

Vidiot, that's some helpful thoughts. Thanks.

millie210, yes- all viewpoints are welcome here. That means all responses are welcome also. Thanks.

    Apognophos, nicely said.

sparrowdown, that's a big part of what this thread is about.

C'mon. The internet is the internet. The OP is ridiculous. Who's it aimed at? Those who are JWs and are reading this obviously are open minded enough not to be restrained by a stupid man-made directive. And the rest of JWs are not here. So what's left to answer?

    To add to the OP:

I would like to know from a jw how it isn't a dead religion. It's 2014. It's been a 100 years since 1914. There really isn't even any need to debate 607 bce vs. 587 anymore. The generation is dead (and don't try and sell me the "overlapping" crap). Oh, it might go on for a while, but tell me how despite all their failed dating calculations (that was soooo-soooo important for our everlasting survival), how is it still relevant?
