^^^ I posted pictures of Muslims with signs literally saying NO to many of those things above in this thread. This is nothing more than obvious bigotry/black and white thinking.

Chapter 9 of the Qur'an, in English called "Ultimatum," is the most important concerning the issues of abrogation and jihad against unbelievers. It is the only chapter that does not begin "in the name of God, most benevolent, ever-merciful."[54] Commentators agree that Muhammad received this revelation in 631, the year before his death, when he had returned to Mecca and was at his strongest.[55] Muhammad bin Ismail al-Bukhari (810-70), compiler of one of the most authoritative collections of the hadith, said that "Ultimatum" was the last chapter revealed to Muhammad[56] although others suggest it might have been penultimate. Regardless, coming at or near the very end of Muhammad's life, "Ultimatum" trumps earlier revelations.

Because this chapter contains violent passages, it abrogates previous peaceful content. Muhsin Khan, the translator of Sahih al-Bukhari, says God revealed "Ultimatum" in order to discard restraint and to command Muslims to fight against all the pagans as well as against the People of the Book if they do not embrace Islam or until they pay religious taxes. So, at first aggressive fighting was forbidden; it later became permissible (2:190) and subsequently obligatory (9:5).[57] This "verse of the sword" abrogated, canceled, and replaced 124 verses that called for tolerance, compassion, and peace.[58]

Suyuti said that everything in the Qur'an about forgiveness and peace is abrogated by verse 9:5, which orders Muslims to fight the unbelievers and to establish God's kingdom on earth.

The west is not the problem, and we don't need to introspect and blame ourselves for radicals. It's right there in black and white. This is why groups like Al-Queda, ISIS, Taliban do what they do. Why do they keep interpreting the Qur'an the way they do? It's these texts that will create 10,000 more groups just like ISIS after ISIS is gone. Islam is the problem.

Just because a book orders Muslims to do something wrong it doesn't mean they will act on it. The majority of Muslims don't take it literraly because they seek a peaceful life. Islam is more of a problem than Muslims, Muslim extremists like ISIS are more of a problem than Islam.

    LOL...

    Isreal gone!

    Quote: http://rationalislam.blogspot.com/2012/08/should-quran-be-read-in-context.html

The trouble with the Qur'an is that no Muslim can (or would want to?) deny one iota of its content and this is for two important reasons:
    i. it is a fundamental tenet of Islam that the Qur'an is the uncreated word of God. That is to say that every word, every letter has come direct from God (via the Angel Gabriel and Muhammad of course).
    and
ii. not a word or letter has been changed in the 1,400 odd years since the Prophet received the revelation.
Thus, for most Muslims, to say (as Christians do) that no-one believes such-and-such a part of the revelation nowadays is tantamount to apostasy (and we all know what dire retribution God has ordained for Muslims who apostise

They say that they hate the west but everything they use; cars, trucks, guns, tanks, buses, phones, computers, binoculars, etc, etc, etc, none of it conceived from Islamist communities. If they hate it, why use it???

Nothing, they have brought nothing in to this world but persecution and hatred...

Well besides things like surgery, numbers, possibly algebra...

Seriously, what in the world is wrong with some of the people here?

It's interesting that most of the objections to criticism of Islam seem to be based on someone knowing Muslims personally who seem to be nice people and apparently want to wear the hijab etc...

But this is no different to JWs that many people know and like and put on a great outward appearance and have all the right answers so that they do not bring any shame to their religion. It doesn't make them happy or even true believers - just stuck in it with no easy out.

Going out off the house with a cloth bag on your head is unnatural - something no one would ever chose to do on their own (show me non Muslims who do it?!). So claiming they want to is just stupid.

They do it because they feel compelled to do it. They are coerced with threats to do it and to lie to the world about wanting to ... just like we would lie about how great it was being a JW and a blessing not to have to endure birthday celebrations and xmas.

This applies to a whole list of things and practices that are appalling on their own but suddenly accepted on the name of religion.

And these are the moderate Muslims that we know and like. They are trapped in a world that is much harder to leave than JWs and yet many would rather say ' they are happy, stop trying to restrict what their religion can teach '.

I think most Muslims want their religion to be restricted and most moderate Muslim reformers are crying out for help to end the excesses that the faith immerses itself in.

The first step towards reforming something is criticising it and accepting that it may not be as right as out should be.

This is so true, being trapped makes them victims though, a lot of them buy into some practices but some may just be going through the motions. Kate xx

Simon - So claiming they want to is just stupid.

Agreed. The things they claim they "want" to do are not that at all. they conform with fear and phobia to their murderous cult.

Thank goodness for the worlds sake, that this is a true statement - for now. The problem is folks like this want to move to foreign lands and force their culture into the laws even though it may be in diametric opposition to western ideals.

Many muslims to have the courage to speak out about Islam and tell the truth.

So Instead of defending Islam, why not get behind in support of voices of reason such as these?
