    Welcome Fader77,

Thanks for the letter. Are you going to actually leave WT? If so what your plan?

I can kinda see the need for this. In my hall the school overseer is super old, in a motorized scooter. Some evenings he is painfully slow finding his place in his notes for the next student. He looks exhausted up there. BUT, he's adorable. Nicest, humblest man I've met. He won't quit because he's "faithful to jah". The rest of the elders love him too much to ask him to quit. No one wants to hurt his feelings. Honest truth is that him and his wife would probably be so relieved if he was replaced.

I know he is school overseer and not COBE, so this letter does not apply to him yet. However, I can see this extension happening soon down the road. Probably trying to ease the elders into the change.

Cobe makes sense as first up. He is the one person who has to be informed of all things happening in the hall. ALL elders meetings, judicial hearings ect are reported to him. He keeps the history of the cong in his head.

I see secretary being next for change.

It seems to me a way to get rid of the oldtimers. Time for more change, maybe at congregational level. New, ambitious COBE's will implement every change to keep his position.

It will be interesting to see how long this "confidential information" remains confidential.

The letter is addressed to BOEs, not to the congregation. It will not be read at a congregation meeting for all to hear.

In theory, the rank & file will not know about this. But in practice.....

How will the sudden resignation of 80-year-old Brother Cornerstone, who has been COBE / Presiding Overseer / Congregation Servant for 45 years and is still quite fit, both mentally and physically, be spun?

Will he be bitter and mutter about "forced retirement" to anyone within earshot? Or will he be loyal to the end and fall on his sword without a sound?

Will his wife be PO'ed (sorry) at her sudden loss of stature and let "the real reason" leak? Or maybe she will do so to circumvent whisperings that her husband is "going senile" or "must have done something wrong".

Or maybe some young elder will let it slip after a night of heavy drinking with his non-elder buddies?

I think this will be common knowledge before the end of summer.

    Good, I hope it's true.

A COBE can be a thankless Job if you are a 'good ' guy.

    And it is a "Job".

When do they get to retire? When demitia hits in and you need a cane , Your health is shit and so is your wife's?

Dont expect any benifits from the BORG. Just off you go. Sad, poor , gulible 1975er believers.

    I think it's tragic.

It's not just them. It's all of us.

    To the Governing Body,

    Dear Brothers,

We are unable to comply with your directive to remove our 80 year old COBE.

It seems that he is the only one among us who doesn't download internet porn.

    Your Brothers,

    Horndog Congregation

I wonder how many congregations will function now that a good portion of the elder body has been retired? Any guesses?

This might make it easier to sell lots of kingdom halls that that have no elders I'm sure there are some now with this new policy. I guess the Governing Body sees these guys as trouble makers for them and not carrying out orders from them, I remember the last video the GB made for elders and it put old elders in a bad light as softies in disfellowshipping people, well seems like the GB have been stewing over this thing for a while.

It would be nice if they could put a celing on the age limit for being on the Governing Body god some of those guys needed a little rest from years and years of bullshit peddling. I guess being on the Governing Body is really a curse becuse you can't retire just work work work right up into the grave, no golden parachutes no vacation home, no nothing, just bethel bethel bethel and nothing else that has got to make those guys real cranky.

Work you ass off Anthony Morris you sick in thead and should be retired and enjoying what little of your life and health got left instead of sitting in some Governing Body/CEO desk worrying about a Sparlock wizzard toy's making Jehovah sad and tight pants pushing Jehovah to feel disgusted, and keeping deaf people from masturbating so Jehovah don't look down and spew a vomit, you numb nut closet gay.
